Background

This melodic death metal band, formed by former Carcass’ guitarist, Michael Amott, started out with Johan Liiva on vocals, but then replaced him with Angela Gossow. Though a female replaced him, the band still has the same death metal vocal style. Gossow, who has only been with the band on the past two albums, has been able to create a strong presence in the band.

Arsis Issues Arch Enemy and Exodus Tour Recap

Virginia based melodic tech death metal band ARSIS has issued the following update regarding their recently completed tour with ARCH ENEMY, EXODUS and MUTINY WITHIN:

“So we are finally home from probably the best tour we have ever been on and we’re all ready to go again! Actually, if we could just rewind and do this one over again minus the van break-ins, extracurricular head injuries, and a couple really unfortunate meals (with consequences), it would be basically perfect. We owe enormous thanks to certain people for heroic acts on this tour. To our friends in ARCH ENEMY and EXODUS: hopefully our paths will cross again very soon! Let the metal flow like lava!”

Arch Enemy Announces U.K. Tour With Sabbat

Swedish heavy metal outfit Arch Enemy has announced that they will be embarking on a headlining tour of the United Kingdom in April and they will be bringing two special guests with them in the form of legendary British thrash metal band Sabbat and Norwegian band Enslaved. A message from Arch Enemy lead singer Angela Gossow reads as follows:

"We strongly felt its time to visit the shores of The United Kingdom Of Heavy Metal again! We miss you, ladies and gentlemen!!! We only did the Bloodstock festival in 2009. It was a fantastic gig and reminded us of why we love the Amott brothers' homeland so much. Even better, we are bringing the U.K. cult thrashers Sabbat with us and the Norwegian sons of darkness, Enslaved! We will cook up a devastating setlist for this run and won't leave any prisoners behind. Get ready for the Metal Hammer Meltdown attack!"

Arch Enemy Conquers Philadelphia

For the first time in almost two years, Arch Enemy made their way to the United States to cause devastation using blistering melodic death metal. Touring in support of “The Root Of All Evil,” which included re-recorded Arch Enemy songs from the band’s first three albums, the band made their presence known at the Theatre Of Living Arts in Philadelphia on January 21st. The “Tyrants of Evil” tour was a monstrous package that not only included Arch Enemy, but up-and-comers Mutiny Within, technical death metal shredders Arsis and legendary thrashers Exodus. The show was strong from start to finish, and the audience that packed into the intimate venue ranged from respectful to outright ruthless at times. More...

Michael Amott Parts Ways with Randall Amplifiers

Arch Enemy/Carcass guitarist Michael Amott has parted ways with Randall Amplifiers/US Music Corp. The partnership lasted almost three years and included a line of successful "Ninja V2 - Inspired and designed by Michael Amott" series of V2 amps, cabs and practice amps. These products will now be discontinued.

Commented Amott: "I appreciate what Randall did for me while we worked together, but there was a big change in the company recently and it just didn't feel like home anymore. I'd especially like to thank former US Music Corp. employees Jody Dankberg, Doug Reynolds and the former CEO Rudy Schlacher for their vision, hard work and good times we shared!"

"Both myself and Chris (Amott, Arch Enemy) will be playing whatever we're interested in trying out for the next couple of tours and we'll see what comes out of that, the search for the ultimate tone continues!!!"

Arch Enemy Issues Manila Show Report

Arch Enemy has issued the following recap of their performance in Manila:

"Great, the typhoon has parked his violent core far off the coast above the ocean. Which means our flights are on and nobody is in danger coming to the show. Our first gig in Manila is going to happen! And it comes with a giant bat and pyros (probably no license, haha..) Our promoters from Pulp magazine are taking very good care of us. Nice hotel, way too much food and lot of excitement about the show tomorrow. We are the first European metal band to stir up some live madness over here. Damn. Its about time!

"Michael and Daniel doing a signing for Dean Guitars / Pearl Drums before the show. Next day will be a very early flight and a show in Hong Kong. So I sleep most of the day.. Kinda refilling my batteries for the next 36 hours of sleep depravity to come. I am totally awake and ready to do this show. I wanna see the giant bat in action. It blows a lot of smoke during 'My Apocalypse'. Funny shit!"
