Desertfest UK Announces Lineup Changes

The organisers of the British edition of Desert Fest, which will celebrate it's tenth incarnation next month, have announced that a number of bands have been unable to make it to this year's festival, including Corrosion Of Conformity and The Obsessed. The good news however is that they have booked a number of replacements. A message from the organisers reads as follows:

"Due to circumstances well beyond our control, the following artists are no longer able to perform at DF London ’22: Corrosion of Conformity, The Obsessed/Wino, Khemmis, Somali Yacht Club, Mos Generator, URNE, Shuck.

"We know this news comes as a disappointment however, all is far from lost as we are thrilled to be welcoming 1000mods, Greenleaf, DVNE, Ritual King, Shooting Daggers, Old Horn Tooth & Personal Hell to the bill!

"We hope you understand that touring is still extremely difficult to navigate during these times, with a lot of decisions taken out of our hands. But your continued support of independent live music means everything to us. We cannot wait to see you in a little over a month!

"If you are still after a weekend ticket, the best thing to do is sign up to the DICE waiting list. Or you can nab yourself a Saturday + Sunday (Non-Roundhouse access) combo ticket here.

"More info regarding after-parties, merch + a very exciting reveal of what's going to be on offer down on Greenland Place is all to come.. stay tuned!" More...

DesertFest Announces Full 2022 Lineup

As the home for all the things truly heavy, leading independent UK festival Desertfest have announced their full line up for 2022, which will take place in Camden, London from Friday 29th April – Sunday 1st May.

Celebrating their tenth year, next year’s festival promises to be their biggest and most diverse yet. Covering six venues across the heart of Camden and now including a full line up at The Roundhouse on both Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May.

Founding owner of Desertfest Reece Tee comments, "Desertfest is 10 years old! I’m so proud that our independent festival has stood the test of time. What we have created is special, a decade of great bands, great friends and amazing memories. This year’s line up is a true reflection of how diverse Desertfest has become and with such a loyal audience, Desertfest can champion the underground for decades more to come."

Headlining the Friday will be Swedish heavy rock masters Witchcraft, with a UK exclusive performance and their first UK show in over a decade.

Saturday’s headliners are none other than Chicago’s Shellac, who in another UK exclusive will be bringing their experimental post-hardcore sound to the Roundhouse. Fronted by the iconic Steve Albini, Shellac are one of those bands we all need to experience live, at least once. Whilst closing the festival on Sunday will be UK doom legends Electric Wizard, whose heavy sound encompasses the spirit of Desertfest.

Other acts confirmed include the likes of Corrosion Of Conformity, Orange Goblin and Truckfighters who all played the festival in its debut year in 2012 and there are further UK exclusive performances from hardcore-punks Integrity and the Ukrainian psych space rock trio Somali Yacht Club. More...

Opium Lord Signs To Candlelight

Candlelight Records has checked in with the following announcement about signing a deal with Opium Lord:

"Opium Lord’s surroundings reflects their sound, born out of a small industrial town in The Black Country, in the shadow of the of the Birmingham suburbs where the genre was created; they play dark soul mailing avant sludge blending doom and math to construct their original sound.

"2013 was a busy year, releasing a now sold out debut EP, playing numerous UK appearances including Supersonic Festival and headlining a tour of mainland Europe. It’s safe to say they made some pretty bold statements in what was only their first year and a half of formation.

"Their debut EP 'The Calendrical Cycle – Prologue: The Healer' reached critical acclaim for a two track taster of what is to come, including Terrorizer Magazine awarding it top marks in a review.

"Coming soon on Candlelight Records will see the band’s first full length 'The Calendrical Cycle: Eye of Earth,' which promises to be far more in depth and crushing than its predecessor."

The band had this to say: "Candlelight has produced some of the biggest bands in metal since its inception, so it's an absolute honour to join the ranks to carry on our journey. We have done a lot since we formed this little band in The Black Country and we have had a lot of support along the way, we instantly felt at home talking with the guys from the label and relationships are important to us, so here we are, signed Candlelight because of that mentality. Our debut album The Calendrical Cycle: Eye of Earth shall be with you via Candlelight Records soon."
