Belphegor Announce Eastern European Tour

Austrian blackened death metal outfit Belphegor have announced the dates for a third leg of their 30th anniversary touring across eastern and south-eastern Europe. Special guests on this run will be American death metal veterans Malevolent Creation, brutal death metal outfit Monument Of Misanthropy and death metal band Confess.

Confess Offers First Interview Since Arrest

Last year we reported that Iranian metal duo Confess - consisting of Nikan "Siyanor" Khosravi and Arash "Chemical" Ilkhani - was arrested for blasphemy and running an illegal band and record label promoting music considered to be Satanic.

Very little was public about the case at the time, but now Metal Injection has published an interview with Nikan "Siyanor" Khosravi, offering his first public comments since the arrest. Excerpts can be read below. More...

Iranian Metal Band Reportedly Jailed

We've been posting news on an Iranian outfit titled Confess for a few years, and it appears the band has now gotten into hot water with the authorities. MetalNationRadio.ca posted this message online about the situation:

"Metal Community… On behalf of the band Confess (Iran), I am making this post public in the hope that it will go viral. I have spoken many times and in depth regarding the dangers of being a metal musician from the middle east. I would often use Confess as an example when describing the perils one would face by playing music.

"They are a talented thrash band that risked it all to pursue their hopes and dreams of one day being able to leave their land and share their music/stories with the world. Because of their heavy-handed religious rule, many countries in the Middle East view rock and metal as the devil’s music. In many cases the musicians or those who just listen to the music risk being jailed and in some cases executed for it. I have always feared that one day one of the bands I promote from there would end up in such a position.

"Well… that time arrived for Nikan Siyanor Khosravi and Khosravi Arash Chemical Ilkhani of Confess. This evening I received a message from a friend of the band (who will remain unnamed to protect their identity) that I found to be alarming. Confess Streams "You Will Pay Back"

After streaming the song "Unormal" online, Iranian band Confess has now released a track titled "You Will Pay Back," which can be heard below.

This is a re-recorded and re-mastered version of the song - previously released on the "Beginning of Dominion" album in 2012 - and it will appear on an upcoming EP release due out in October.
