70000 Tons Confirms First Third Of 2025 Lineup
There are your standard Heavy Metal festivals – and then there’s 70000 Tons Of Metal.
Envision this: Lounging on a Caribbean island, soaking up the sun on a pristine white beach. Later on, you feel the warm wind blowing in your face, now sitting in a hot tub on a giant luxurious cruise ship, in front of The Pool Deck Stage, The World’s Biggest Open Air Structure to Ever Sail the Open Seas. Surrounded by Metal fans from all across the globe (known as the United Nations of Heavy Metal at Sea), you headbang to your favorite band. Sounds perfect? Well, it is. Get ready for 70000 Tons Of Metal 2025!
The thirteenth edition of 70000 Tons Of Metal will take place from January 30th to February 3rd, departing from Miami, Florida – Cruise Capital of the World – to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and back aboard the Independence of the Seas.
This unique festival will once more see 60 Heavy Metal bands from various subgenres taking the four stages on board, with 3000 metalheads from around the world in attendance. Brutal Assault Unveils 23 Additional Bands
Legendary death metal act Carcass is set to make a triumphant return to the Fortress after a five-year hiatus. Joining them is Cytotoxin, promising an onslaught of toxic and brutal death metal. Death/goregrind force from Belgium Aborted will join the lineup alongside Sweden's Dark Tranquillity, renowned for their signature Gothenburg melodic death metal sound. Vltimas, the apocalypse riders, will complete this imaginary death metal circle.
American band Escuela Grind will bring chaos with their grindcore, followed by Misery Index and Rotten Sound, known for their mixes of death and grind genres. The onslaught will culminate with Pig Destroyer.
Representing the black metal genre are American act Akhlys, underground sensation Yellow Eyes, and folk psychedelic ensemble Hexvessel.
From the gothic scene, the lineup will welcome industrial favorites Deathsars and the post-punk-tinged Unto Others. Finnish melodic outfit Kalmah will arrive from the dark swamps, and heavy-rock-metal band Soil will come from overseas. Cynic, known as "tech metallers," will present a special Focus set in celebration of the re-release of their iconic debut album. Additionally, acts like Master Boot Record, with their 8-bit computer sounds, and the brutally honest post-hardcore group Svalbard will offer their unique musical perspectives.
Prepare for some hardcore action as Madball makes a comeback to Brutal Assault, after six years, promising a lively moshpit. Also making their debut at BA are established bands like Cancer Bats, Show Me The Body known for their innovative musical identity, and This Is Hell, recognized for their intense and energetic live performances in the metal punk scene.

Ensiferum Announces North American Tour
This November/December, Ensiferum will embark on their "Path To Victory" North American headlining tour, featuring Kalmah, Abigail Williams, and Aenimus as support. Ensiferum's Sami Hinkka (Bass/Vocals) comments: "Hi folks! It's time to get back on the road for one last time before we head to studio to record the next Ensiferum album. We couldn't be more thrilled about the upcoming North America tour! It's gonna be fireworks of metal for the whole evening because we'll share the stage with awesome bands: Kalmah, Abigail Williams and Aenimus!"
Kalmah adds: "Everybody knows what Santa Claus does but what happens when these two bearded creatures appear at once? I mean Swamplord and that other to the other guy..."
Abigail Williams adds: "After taking a year off to complete our new album, we will hit the road with our friends Ensiferum, Kalmah and Aenimus in November. Expect a set list full of new songs and a couple of old favorites."
Aenimus adds: "We are thrilled to be a part of the 'Path To Victory Tour' this Fall with Ensiferum, Kalmah and Abigail Williams. With this tour being such a diverse line up, we hope to see lots of new faces and perform for people who otherwise may not have heard of Aenimus. Obituary Posts 70k Tons Short; Napalm Death Added
Florida death metal legends Obituary has posted a new animated short online promoting their upcoming appearance at the 70000 Tons cruise. You can check it out below. In addition to this, British grindcore masters Napalm Death has been added to the lineup. The ship will set sail from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on January 31 and dock in Labadee, Haiti, before returning on February 4.

The organisers of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise has announced a further three bands for this year's edition of the floating festival. Joining the lineup is Belgian death metal outfit Carnation, while Colombian thrashers Perpetual Warfare and Austrian power metal band Dragony have also been added to the bill. The ship will set sail from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on January 31 and dock in Labadee, Haiti, before returning on February 4.

The organisers of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise has announced a further three bands for this year's edition of the floating festival. Joining the bill are Brazilian death metal legends Krisiun, American heavy metal outfit Night Demon and Norwegian progressive metal group Chontaraz. The ship will set sail from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on January 31 and dock in Labadee, Haiti, before returning on February 4.

Public Sales Date For 70000TONS OF METAL Announced
70000TONS OF METAL™, The Original, The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, has announced the Public Sales date and the first 28 of 60 bands for their ninth voyage, sailing January 31 - February 4, 2019, from Miami / Fort Lauderdale to beautiful Labadee and back.
Public Sales will begin on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 12:00 PM EDT.
Only 3,000 tickets will be sold. Prices start at USD 766.00 plus Taxes and Fees per person and includes on board accommodation, access to all performances, meals, and numerous special events including meet and greets with all bands on board.
Sales for 70000TONS OF METAL Survivors (festival goers who have attended the event before) began on September 5, 2018, so limited tickets remain. Visit 70000tons.com/booking to book your cabin before they are gone.

In addition, the lineup is taking shape as an additional 20 acts were added to the bill, bringing the total announced at 36 of 60 bands, as follows:

The festival will once again be hosted by The Independence of the Seas (via Royal Caribbean). The ship will accommodate four stages: The Alhambra Theater is a five-story concert hall in which they spare no expense to remove part of the (very comfortable) seating so you have a real Mosh Pit on the High Seas; The more intimate Egyptian themed Pyramid Lounge offers the local club atmosphere; The third indoor stage is in Studio B, the ice skating rink featuring a maritime version of the Arena experience and last but not least their jewel: The Pool Deck stage - The World’s Biggest Open Air Stage Structure to ever sail the Open Seas, surrounded by multiple bars and pools, plenty of room to sunbathe on several decks and even hot tubs incorporated into the Pool Deck stage to soak in while you watch the shows!

UMC Begins Announcement Barrage For 70K 2017
UMC - promoters for the Original and World's Largest Cruise Festival, 70,000 Tons of Metal - have unleashed the first barrage of bands that will appear on the 2017 edition of the annual cruise.
The first 16 of 60 bands announced are: Amaranthe, Amorphis, Annihilator, Anthrax, Cruachan, Death Angel, Equilibrium, Grave Digger, Haggard, Kalmah, Kamelot, Nile, Orphaned Land, Powerglove, Suffocation and Therion.

Vesperia Announces Tour With Kalmah
After cancelling a U.S. tour due to visa issues, Canada's Vesperia has announced teh band will support Finland's Kalmah on a 2016 tour.
Vesperia vocalist / bassist Morgan Rider comments: “We are extremely excited to announce that we will be direct support for Kalmah on their Canadian headlining tour next spring! We will be playing 20 dates from coast to coast on our biggest tour yet! We will see you again soon, Canada!”

Kalmah Posts New Music Video
Finnish act Kalmah posted a new music video for the track "Seventh Swamphony." The song is the title track of the band's upcoming new LP, which is due out on June 14th (Finland & Europe), June 17th (UK), June 18th (USA & Canada) and June 26th (Japan) via Spinefarm Records. The video was directed by Jukka Vidgre.

Kalmah Finishes Work On New Album
Finnish death metal legion Kalmah is pleased to unleash a seventh studio offering this June. Titled "Seventh Swamphony," the follow-up to 2010’s "12 Gauge" release, was recorded at Tico-Tico Studios in Kemi, Finland, and features eight tracks, mixed and mastered at Sweden’s Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, Paradise Lost).
Comments lead guitarist Antti Kokko: "This album marks a milestone in our careers. We have a new keyboard player [Veli-Matti Kananen], which has given a fresh edge to the music, and we are of course very satisfied with the new material. That is why we wanted to give the songs the best possible chance without compromise; we feel very lucky and privileged to have worked with Jens Bogren."

Kalmah Posts In-Studio Video
Finland's Kalmah has posted a studio video online from the recording of a new album, which can be viewed below. Drummer Janne Kusmin also comments:
"Drums are ready and I am happy. Recordings went pretty well. Faster songs were easy and fun to play and slower songs were hard to play. Conclusion: Slow songs suck, fast songs rule or do I need more practice? Hahaa!"
