Kalmah Posts In-Studio Video

Finland's Kalmah has posted a studio video online from the recording of a new album, which can be viewed below. Drummer Janne Kusmin also comments:

"Drums are ready and I am happy. Recordings went pretty well. Faster songs were easy and fun to play and slower songs were hard to play. Conclusion: Slow songs suck, fast songs rule or do I need more practice? Hahaa!"

Kalmah Announces New Keyboard Player

Finnish melodic death metal band Kalmah announced that they have recruited Veli-Matti Kananen of One Morning Left as the bands new keyboard player following the departure of Marco Sneck at the end of 2011. The band is also working on the follow up to the 2010 release "12 Gauge."

The following update was posted on the band's website:

After inspiring hunting season Kalmah has found new keyboard player. We welcome Swamplord Veli-Matti Kananen (One Morning Left) on board! Velski has already played session gigs with us in Russia and Switzerland so we knew his skills and most of all his state of mindlessness.

We have started to write material for next album and so far we have 4 songs on the way - fast and fucked. New video will be shot next summer with mosquitos and Finnish swamp soil. Song for the video has already been chosen. Studio sessions will take place at the end of this year.

Departed keyboardist Marco Sneck posted this statement announcing his departure in late 2011:

What an epic journey this has been, filled with great shows and albums! I would sincerely like to thank the fans around the world plus the people involved for the overwhelming support over the past years, you and these experiences will not be forgotten! As some paths fade away, existing ones keep on going and be sure, new ones will emerge so see you on the road! Last but definitely not the least I´d like to say to swamplords, keep up raising the bar of swampmetal to the level where it belongs!

Hatebreed are gearing up to utterly destroy Dinkelsbühl in 2011 with their killer songs. No other band out there combines the attitude and aggression of hardcore and the uncompromising heaviness of metal in such a perfect way. Scene icon Jamey Jasta and his wrecking crew are the epitome of unleashed energy, the embodiment of credibility, the essence of groove, the purest form of brutality, the rulers of all pits and the blueprint for a whole generation, all rolled into one. Please welcome one of the most important and influential bands of the last decade for the first time at Summer Breeze! Hard, harder, Hatebreed!"

Hammerfall To Headline Summer Breeze

The organizers of the Summer Breeze fest have issued the following announcement about Hammerfall headlining the 2011 edition of the festival:

"Merry Christmas! Now that we're halfway through our Advent Calendar, which has had plenty of killer bands so far, we want to present you the first headliner for Summer Breeze 2011: Hammerfall.

"They are one of the most relevant and successful heavy metal bands of the last 15 years, yet they have never played at Summer Breeze. It's about time to change that! We are extremely happy to present Hammerfall as one of this year's headliners! The undisputed leaders of true metal have loads of metal anthems and catchy melodies under their belt, after they almost single-handedly put traditional power metal back on the map with their glorious 1997 debut 'Glory To The Brave.'

"And what started as a fairytale became a metal dream come true, including high chart entries all over Europe for every one of their seven studio albums. If each of you goes back in time for a minute, you will certainly remember at least one metal party where you were banging your fists singing along to hymns such as 'Steel Meets Steel', 'Hearts on Fire' or 'Heeding The Call'. To put it in their own words: 'Brothers unite! Let's stand up and fight!'" More...
