Mudvayne Members Form Audiotopsy
A powerhouse new band is about to emerge on the hard rock/metal scene: introducing Audiotopsy, featuring guitarist Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne, Hell Yeah), drummer Matt McDonough (Mudvayne), vocalist Billy Keeton (Skrape) and bassist Perry Stern.
The band recently completed the recording process for a debut album, expected out this Summer 2015. The album is currently being mixed.
"I'm extremely excited about Audiotopsy," says Greg. "The music has everything you want in a record...heavy/melodic/atmospheric/big hooky riffs/sing alongs as well. The guys in the band are great and we all feel as if this was meant to happen. Everyone is very artistic and we all felt an energy from our first meeting. We can't wait for the world to hear Audiotopsy and can't wait to get out there and tour the world. A/Y IS COMING! I'm Ready To Fuck Shit Up!"
Billy adds: "From the first few notes I knew this was going to be killer. The chemistry happening just took over and spawned this sound, this animal. I'm super stoked to get this music out, and to get this band on tour. Let the madness begin."
Fans of the members' projects should also brace themselves for a label signing announcement, as plans to release the yet-untitled debut are currently being finalized.
Dark New Day To Release Acoustic EP
DARK NEW DAY, the band featuring Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) on guitar, Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar, will release an acoustic EP called "Black Porch". The disc will include two brand new songs in addition to two tracks from the band's 2005 debut album, "Twelve Year Silence". No release date has been set for the EP, but it will arrive sometime this summer. DARK NEW DAY have also begun working on their second full-length album, with plans to alternate between the studio and the road over the next few months.
Commented Clint Lowery: "I'm leaving for Atlanta Tuesday night [April 18] to meet with Troy and Corey and go over all the music we've been writing over the past few months. Needless to say, there's about 10 million ideas to go through. Corey's a ninja on ProTools, so we don't need to an engineer to record anything because Corey can do it. Awesome having that tool to use in our own camp. Corey's also producing a few Atlanta bands right now on the off time. We really want to team up and produce bands one day. Really try to give some bands a fair chance to get something recorded that will really represent what they are as a band.
"DARK NEW DAY will be getting together in May to write and demo some tracks. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! DAMN IT!! I've said that all year. We've been working through some business with our label and getting a gameplan together over the last few weeks and I think we have one. We're not — pardon my French — 'fuckin' around' on this next record. Not that we did on the first one, but we've grown as a band and played enough live shows to really understand where we need to go as a band. I never usually talk about a record before it's done but I want to put the pressure on to do the best job we can for [the fans] and for ourselves."
Upcoming DARK NEW DAY shows:
May 06 - Jackson, MS - Coliseum Festival Grounds
May 19 - Orlando, FL - House of Blues
Motley Crue Tap Dark New Day Drummer For Tour
DARK NEW DAY drummer Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE) has been tapped by MÖTLEY CRÜE to fill in for injured drummer Tommy Lee on the last few dates of their North American tour. Hunt, who had previously backed Tommy in his solo band, has taken over the drumming duties after a member of the Canadian MÖTLEY CRÜE tribute band BRÖKEN TÖYZ stepped in at the last minute to cover for Lee at the band's April 5 concert at the Enmax Center in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
"After playing multiple shows wearing a brace and taking anti-inflammatory injections, Tommy Lee's doctor instructed him to give his injured right-hand wrist a break after his tendinitis made it difficult for him to perform," MÖTLEY CRÜE's publicist, Dvora Vener Englefield, had previously said in a statement. Tendonitis is a common and painful injury for drummers who pound the skins with great force.
DARK NEW DAY guitarist Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) confirmed that Hunt was playing with the CRÜE, but was quick to add, "Will's not leaving to join MÖTLEY CRÜE. They called him in to do a small string of dates because Tommy has a small medical issue that he will recover from in a week. Will's very close with Tommy and is stepping in to help, not to mention [that] it's gonna be cool to do."
Remaining MÖTLEY CRÜE tour dates:
Apr. 11 - Red Deer, CAN @ Enmax Centre
Apr. 12 - Lethbridge, CAN @ Enmax Centre
Apr. 13 - Regina, CAN @ Brandt Centre

Dark New Day Enjoying First Tour
Launch Radio Networks reports: New rock "supergroup" DARK NEW DAY is currently on its first national tour, opening up for CHEVELLE, and guitarist Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) told Launch that things couldn't be going better for the band. "So far, I mean, the CHEVELLE guys, we have a little bit of history with those guys and me personally, I've known 'em for a long time, and, you know, it's a great way for us to introduce this band," he said. "You know, I think our music goes along with CHEVELLE's style as well, and I think their fans have been really supportive and, you know, our fans from the previous bands have been very cool and have come up to the shows, and I think it's a perfect blend."
DARK NEW DAY's debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", hits record stores on June 14. The first single from the disc is called "Brother".
The band was formed by Lowery and his brother, ex-STEREOMUD bassist Corey Lowery, after years of planning to work together.
The group also includes ex-SKRAPE drummer Will Hunt, former DOUBLEDRIVE axeman Troy McLawhorn and one-time CREED touring bassist Brett Hestla, who sings lead vocals in the new group.
Dark New Day To Open For Chevelle
DARK NEW DAY, the new "supergroup" featuring Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) on guitar, Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar, have been tapped to open for CHEVELLE beginning in early April.
As previously reported, DARK NEW DAY have selected "Brother" as the first single off their debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", due this summer via Warner Bros. Records. The single is scheduled to go for radio adds on April 18.
"Twelve Year Silence" was mixed with producer/mixer Ben Grosse, who has previously worked with FILTER, FUEL, SEVENDUST and ALTER BRIDGE. A MySpace.com page containing three advance cuts from the album — "Taking Me Alive", "Lean" and "Heal In Time" — can be found at this location.
Former Nothingface/Skrape Members Speak Out
SEVER, the new project from former NOTHINGFACE members Tom Maxwell (guitar), Tommy Sickles (drums), and Jerry Montano (bass), plus former SKRAPE frontman Billy Keeton, have been continuing to work on new material as of late and will soon be making their live debut. Here's what Maxwell recently had to say on the matter:
"...We've been doing nothing but writing and recording songs. Now that we've reached up toward 30 songs, we're going to be turning up the heat from now on. Jerry has one more tour to do with Danzig and will be back in time for rehearsals and our first show in March. Which btw is on March 21st at Fletchers in Baltimore w/ DFD."
The group, who were previously known as COLDWHITECHRIST, are not likely to continue using the name SEVER however and are thought to be deciding upon a new moniker for themselves.
Supergroup Changes Name To Dark New Day
The new "supergroup" featuring Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST) on guitar, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar has changed its name to DARK NEW DAY from the previously announced DARK BLUE. Tommy Lee Fills In For Skrape Drummer
Former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee will sit in behind the kit at SKRAPE's show December 18 at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, California, according to MTV.com. The event will be a returned favor of sorts, since SKRAPE drummer Will Hunt was the touring drummer in Lee's band earlier this year.
