To/Die/For Part With Guitarist

Finnish goth-metallers TO/DIE/FOR have parted ways with guitarist Mika "Alli" Ahtiainen. The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"With sad hearts, TO/DIE/FOR has had to let their guitarist Mika 'Alli' Ahtiainen go.

After playing and touring together for years, it just became obvious that we needed to go our separate ways. This was a decision Alli and TO/DIE/FOR made together and we hope you will respect our decision.

There is no big drama involved, nor is there anyone to blame. Sometimes things just go the way they need to go and the inevitable must be faced. What had to be done is now done and we must continue on our own paths and see where the road will take its travellers. This is not easy for anybody to comprehend or accept at this point, we know that, but let's try and not make these times any harder than they already are for anyone of us. To make things calmer and easier, TO/DIE/FOR must also state that they are NOT looking for any replacement guitarists at this point. They will proceed with the recordings of their fifth album as planned.

TO/DIE/FOR wishes all the best to Alli, as does Alli for TO/DIE/FOR and TDF fans."

Keyboardist Juska Salminen (ex-H.I.M., NEW DAWN FOUNDATION) will be taking a break from performing and recording activities with Finnish goth-metallers TO/DIE/FOR. "We don't know when he can come back, but the most important thing is that he can calm down and get well. Juska is our friend and we really know him! so we think this is best for him and for the band and Juska thinks same way. But don't worry people!!!! He is not dead yet."

Hateframe Sign With Rising Realm Records

Hateframe, the new Finnish thrash metal band, featuring drummer Tonmi Lillman (ex-To/Die/For, Sinergy), guitarist Joonas Koto (Malpractice, ex-To/Die/For) and bassist Make Kanki (ex-To/Die/For), have signed with Rising Realm Records. Hateframe's debut full-length "Sign of Demise" will be issued in Spring/Summer 2005. This 10-song effort presents nostalgic "old-school thrash" in the vein of Slayer, Kreator and The Haunted.

The album is aggressive and fast. A homage to music you don't hear much nowadays, a modern interpretation of eighties thrash.

The band, whose name is roughly translated to "Village Fools", spent a week in the studio recording 12 songs of what is being described as "straight-forward punk."

"On the first studio day, our drummer Tonmi Lillman arrived completely hammered for the seventh day in a row," stated Jokinen. "He had lost his bass, had no drum sticks, not even to mention the drums. But what he did have was a shitload of booze. Laiho and I knew that this would be an excellent session."

Witchery In Mixing Mode

Witchery guitarist Patrik Jensen (The Haunted) has posted the following message at the Earth-Dog.com message board:

Alright, so where do I start... It's been a long time since Witchery has done anything... I think the last thing we did was the tour of Mexico we did together with The Haunted and To/Die/For... can't even remember when the Hell that was haha

"Oh well..anyways, after The Haunted had completed the new album, I guess the time was right, if not even way overdue, to get a new Witchery album done. Richard, Martin and myself had rehearsed a few times during my 2003 xmas visit to my old home town, so we had material for 3-4 songs floating around. However, we didnt get writing & rehearsing really going until late June, due to touring & festival obligations I had with The Haunted.

"We rehearsed all through the summer, and by the first week of August, we had all the songs written. We recorded the yet untitled album at the Berno studio in Malmö, Sweden (same studio as for 'Symphonies for the Devil'). We have 16 songs that are being mixed & mastered right now.

"Some song titles are:

01. Draw Blood
02. Plaguerider
03. Disturbing the Beast
04. Stigmatized
05. War Piece

"Hopefully, the album will be out before the end of this year... The album title will be posted, as soon as a title has been chosen

"And finally, to state the obvious, the Witchery home page has been terribly neglected lately. This will be rectified as soon as possible."
