Downfall Of Gaia Releases New Music Video

Germany‘s Downfall Of Gaia today unleashes their sixth studio album, "Silhouettes Of Disgust," via Metal Blade Records! Coinciding with the release of "Silhouettes Of Disgust," Downfall Of Gaia today unveils a visualizer for the track "While Bloodsprings Become Rivers." You can check it out below.

Elaborates vocalist/guitarist Dominik Goncalves dos Reis, "Dreams and goals are not equally achievable for everyone. Ever-growing class differences within society have become a major problem that has received far too little attention. Social injustice continues to reach new heights, and everyday life is becoming increasingly difficult for many to cope with." More...

Downfall Of Gaia Debuts New Single

Downfall Of Gaia today unleashes their latest single, "Existence Of Awe." The pummeling new psalm comes by way of the band‘s sixth studio album, "Silhouettes Of Disgust," scheduled to drop on March 17, 2023 via Metal Blade Records.

Progressing in part by looking backwards and returning to familiar territory, Downfall Of Gaia's "Silhouettes Of Disgust" delivers a dynamic and textured blend of crust punk and post-black metal doused in atmospheric elements, taking everything that ever made the band compelling and pushing it in new and gripping directions. The record includes the return of guitarist Peter Wolff, who left the band in 2015 to focus on family and other pursuits. They've also expanded their sonic palette with the addition of synths for the first time, and female vocals courtesy of Lulu Black, who collaborates with drummer Michael Kadnar in industrial/gothic project This Is Oblivion.

Wanting to keep things short, simple, and a bit more confrontational, the record does not feature the eight- to ten-minute epics of the band‘s more recent releases and is indeed punchier, with a lot of classic d-beat drumming driving the action, as on the surging "Unredeemable" and opener/latest single, "Existence Of Awe."

Elaborates vocalist/guitarist Dominik Goncalves dos Reis, " ’Existence Of Awe‘ is a song about those inner demons and ghostly companions that many in this day and age are at the mercy of and have to fight against in whatever form. A condition that one often carries around unnoticed on the outside, which is not immediately visible to many, and that one must somehow learn to live with…" More...

Downfall Of Gaia To Release New Album In March

Germany’s Downfall Of Gaia will release their sixth studio album, "Silhouettes Of Disgust," March 17th via Metal Blade Records, today unveiling the record’s cover art, track listing, and stunning first single.

Over the course of fifteen years, Downfall Of Gaia has carved a unique space for themselves within the metal scene, evolving naturally and unafraid to take risks. With Silhouettes Of Disgust they progress in part by looking backwards and returning to familiar territory. The result is best described as a textured, dynamic blend of crust punk and post-black metal with a lot of atmospheric elements, taking everything that ever made the band compelling and pushing it in new and gripping directions. With the return of guitarist Peter Wolff, who left the band in 2015 to focus on family and other pursuits, the writing process was much more streamlined than the sixteen months spent penning 2019’s Ethic Of Radical Finitude. "We started in October of 2021 and went into the studio in April of 2022," notes vocalist/guitarist Dominik Goncalves dos Reis. "Having Peter back -- who founded Downfall Of Gaia together with bassist/vocalist Anton [Lisovoj] and I in 2008 -- was the big difference this time. For 'Ethic Of Radical Finitude And Atrophy' (2016), I prepared all the guitars by myself before the four of us started working on all the details, which is a much longer way of working than doing everything as a couple."

Wanting to keep things short and simple but straight in the listener’s face, the record does not feature the eight- to ten-minute epics of their more recent releases and is indeed punchier, with a lot of classic d-beat drumming driving the action, as on opener "Existence Of Awe" and the surging "Unredeemable." They have also expanded their sonic palette with the inclusion of synths for the first time, and female vocals courtesy of Lulu Black, who collaborates with drummer Michael Kadnar in industrial/gothic project This Is Oblivion, making her voice familiar to the band members. German extreme metal band Downfall of Gaia has announced the addition of guitarist Marco Mazzola to the group's line-up. The band comments:

"We are happy to announce Marco Mazzola will be the new guitarist for Downfall of Gaia! It is always tough to replace a member of a band, particularly someone who has been with us for so many years, but Marco convinced us in every way! No big words needed for this - We are looking forward to the next chapter of Downfall of Gaia and leave the last words to Marco!"

Marco Mazzola comments: "We met in Italy, back in 2012, while I was touring with my band Caino and we opened a couple of gigs for Downfall Of Gaia. Me and Dominik stayed in contact during the following years and I immediately wrote him once I saw the announcement that the band was looking for a new guitarist. I always held Downfall Of Gaia in high regard, and I'm now honored to take part of it. I'll do my best to keep alive what they previously built with Peter." More...

"We would like to thank him for the last 7 years, the highs and lows, the willing and the unforgettable time we spent with each other! Our last show with Peter on guitar will be in April 2016. More info soon!

"Downfall of Gaia will continue as always! So right now we are looking for a new guitar player! Someone based in Berlin or Hamburg (best case/no must) with enough time, passion and willing to tour worldwide! If this sounds like you - get in contact via booking[at]downfallofgaia.com. Thanks!" Roadburn Adds More Bands To 2015 Lineup

Roadburn Festival is pleased to kick off the new year with a handful of new confirmations, plus the addition of a fifth stage. Tickets for the 20th edition of the festival are on sale now.

Minsk, Mount Salem, and Worm Ouroboros have been added to the line up at the 013 for Thursday, April 9th. Having previously performed at the 2009 edition of the festival, Minsk return to Roadburn, bringing an atmospheric, meditative ambience, offset by raging thrust. Look out for plenty of canyon-sized riffs, trippy sounding keyboards and enchanting vocals when Mount Salem conjurs a crushing windstorm to blow through Roadburn, whilst Worm Ouroboros will be spinning diaphanous webs of the most delicate chamber doom.

New Orleans heavyweights Goatwhore lead the charge, followed by Germany's Downfall of Gaia, noise-hardcore trio Cortez, and a dual-pronged sludge attack from both Fister and Moloch as the first bands announced for the intimate Cul de Sac venue.

As with the 2014 edition, Roadburn's fifth stage will be at Cul de Sac - a small music café located across from the 013 venue at 48 Heuvel, which is the street lined with bars and restaurants (also affectionately known as “Weirdo Canyon”). Four bands will perform at Cul de Sac on each day of the festival, Thursday - Sunday. Entry to these shows is sure to be in high demand, so attendees are advised to arrive early to secure access.

With regret, the festival's organizers have to announce that Lord Mantis will no longer be performing at Roadburn 2015. The band is unable to make it over to Europe due to personal reasons; as a result the performance at Roadburn and any shows around that will be cancelled. The vacant slot on the line up will be taken by Ohio sludge titans Fistula. More...
