Seventeen More Bands Announced For Mystic Festival

Zeal & Ardor, Kadavar, Bewitched, Until I Wake, Mork, Bob Vylan, The Shits, Five The Hierophant, My Diligence, Wyatt E., Slope, The Broken Horizon, The Last Decade, Wij, Trepaneringsritualen, Misguided and Totenmesse fill in the blank spaces on the Mystic Festival 2024 poster.

It's going to be four very intense nights and days, full of daydreaming and worst nightmares. The soundtrack for this unforgettable adventure will be provided by fantastic artists from all over the world, representing all shades of musical darkness.

Zeal & Ardor need no introduction, as they are one of the most interesting phenomena to emerge on the scene in the second decade of the 21st century, fusing the ferocity of gospel and soul with soulless black metal. For those who prefer more traditional metal, the Swedes of Bewitched will play their fusion of infernal sounds with old-school speed and heavy metal. Norway's Mork and Poland's Totenmesse, on the other hand, are black metal without the add-ons, like night without stars and moon.

Berlin's Kadavar has a song about dancing with the dead, and their graveyard hard rock is perfect for this. They will be matched by the Warsaw trio Wij, whose "Przestwór" album is one of the most beautiful monuments erected in Poland to the holy Riff. Belgians of My Diligence pray in the same church, balancing between stoner and post-hardcore.

New sounds? You're welcome - fantastic choruses and metalcore punches will be offered by Until I Wake, a quintet from Buffalo, an explosive mix of grime and punk will blow you away, courtesy of the duo Bob Vylan, a sensation from London, and hardcore, metal and funk will be combined by Slope.

"You're A Mess" is the title of The Shits' excellent album, but you can also hear it about yourself if you dare to get a close look at what their psychedelic, detuned post-punk sounds like live. You will also be harmed by Trepaneringsritualen with their industrial rituals in praise of death.

Five The Hierophant can serve as guides on a journey into the unknown - their acid black/jazz, sometimes ambient/doom, guarantees a distant flight - as well as Wyatt E., with their psychedelic desert drone metal. As if that wasn't enough, it's at the Mystic Festival that The Last Decade, a band made up of musicians known for End Of Green, The Mission, Love Like Blood and Nosferatu, among others, will take the stage for the first time. The music? Yes, you guessed it right.

Also welcomed to the festival program are The Broken Horizon, playing metalcore of a wide spectrum, sometimes very brutal, then again progressive, and deathcore Misguided. More...

Kadavar, Monolord Added To Desertfest Lineup

The organizers of the 2017 Desertfest just checked in with this announcement about confirming four more bands:

"Hot on the trails of our last announcement, we're back already with a quadruple punch of heavy rocking goodness that will get the blood rushing for October to come, for sure!

"We realize that for some of you internet-savvy Festers, the addition of the mighty Kadavar to the DF Antwerp line-up is a known fact already. So how about we turn it up even more, and drop Church of Misery as a headliner as well? And if that's still not enough, would the announcement of Monolord do the trick?

"Yep, that's what we thought! So as a cherry on the cake, let's round it off with the Nottingham supergroup Church of the Cosmic Skull, who dropped one of the more memorable rock albums from last year. More great bands to come in the near future!" More...

Kadavar Releases "Pale Blue Eyes" Video Clip

German classic rock act Kadavar released a music video for the track "Pale Blue Eyes." The song was taken from the latest release "Berlin," and represents the first clip in the band's year long "Visual Album," which will feature 12 short films accompanying each of the album's songs, to be released once a month throughout the entirety of the year.

On the clip, Nuclear Blast commented: "Lupus Lindemann wrote the song 'Pale Blue Eyes' when Kadavar visited the Salton Sea on their first trip through the United States, playing the stage of the infamous 'Range' at the Slab City Prom 2013. Slab City or 'The Slabs' is a snowbird campsite in the Californian Sonora Desert 156 miles northeast of San Diego, where RV-people, outlaws and squatters from across North America formed a wild and lawless 'city' from debris around the famous and colorful Salvation Mountain build by Leonard Knight in the 1980s.

"There are no rules in the slabs (besides 'don't be an asshole') and during one of those memorable Slab City nights, the Kadavar guys found themselves dancing around the fire alongside this wild desert bunch, dressed in discarded ball-gowns, and watching the sunrise from atop the salvation mountain. This song, an ode about 'a mysterious lady with pale blue eyes,' is actually about cross-dressing drummer Tiger in his purple dress, looking so fine..

"For the first video release of this visual album, Nathini van der Meer traveled back into the desert to find a real Slab City original - Mopard the Wizard of East Jesus - whom she followed on one of his walks through the desert."

Kadavar Reveals "Berlin" Details

After spending the last 4 months working non-stop in the studio, Germany's Kadavar has finalized the production process for a new album. The third Kadavar album, "Berlin," is slated for an August 21st, 2015 release.

Today, the band announces the album’s track listing, as well as 3 more versions of the cover that will be available for everyone buying the vinyl version of the album. The glasses of the cover model will be cut out, and depending on how you insert the inlay, the cover will change.

Commented drummer Tiger: "About ten years ago, when we - independently of one another - moved to Berlin, we just wanted to break free from home and do something new. I thought it was comfortable, to blend in and just live from day to day. A lot of very long nights and so many completely different people at one place. Where there are opposites you can always ground yourself. We’re all different, come from different places but have managed to create something together we all like. I think the Belrin lifestyle has influenced our band very much and therefore fits perfectly as the album’s title."

02. Last Living Dinosaur
03. Thousand Miles Away From Home
04. Filthy Illusion

Kadavar Enters The "Eye Of The Storm"

The Berlin, Germany-based classic rock overlords from Kadavar (Nuclear Blast) have shot a video with contemporary artist dust in Bern, Switzerland for the song "Eye Of The Storm."

The song comes off the band’s most recent album "Abra Kadavar: and marks the end of the 2 year cycle promoting the album by relentless touring across the globe. Nuclear Blast comments:

"The unique symbiosis of rock and street art united in a video is what makes this video so special. The story is quite simple: Kadavar and dust meet in Bern, hang out together, and Kadavar hits the stage as dust paints a mural.

"How did it happen? Although Kadavar spent the last three and a half months, non-stop, recording the new LP, a big concern for the guys from Kadavar was a final tribute to the last album, which should be something special. So, the common idea of this crossover project with the internationaly-renowned street artist, David Stegmann aka dust, arose."

Drummer Tiger adds: "When you combine auditory and visual impressions together, it can always create something new. We found it very exciting from the start, putting out our feelers and combining one one of our songs with street art. The video should feature a live perfomance of us, so we wanted to play a song, which simply has power. That's why we both thought ‘Eye Of The Storm." More...

Kadavar Announces Special Edition Album

German classic rock outlet Kadavar has just announced the release of a special edition of last year's "Abra Kadavar" album.

The 2CD set will include the full track list of "Abra Kadavar" plus a bonus track, as well as a full live set recorded in Antwerp. Furthermore, Kadavar will put out a separate vinyl release called "Live In Antwerp" that comes as a 2LP set and also features the full live concert.

"Abra Kadavar Special Edition" and "Live In Antwerp" will be released on June 6th (Europe) and June 9th (UK & France) 2014 via Nuclear Blast.

Commented the band: "With over 250 shows played, we have always considered ourselves as an absolute live band. Our sound on stage is different from the one on the studio albums and thus we’ve been asked time and again, why we don’t do a live release. The time seemed right now and on our last EU tour we recorded some of the shows. Antwerp was the best of them. I would even say one of the best in 2013. Everything was right, people were in a great mood and I am very happy with the sound – especially since it does not sound like every other live album!”

The "Abra Kadavar Special Edition" track listing will be as follows:

CD1
01. Come Back Life
02. Doomsday Machine
03. Eye Of The Storm
04. Black Snake
05. Dust
06. Fire
07. Liquid Dream
