Background
1349, named for the year the plague hit Norway in the 14th Century, found immediate cult status with the recording and release of their self-titled mini-album in 2001. Word of mouth spread like the plague about the band's musical offering, and Frost, who initially joined the group as a session musician, would later ask to become a permanent member. Vocalist Ravn, guitarists Tjalve and Archaon, and bassist Seidemann agreed and 1349 was complete. The band signed to Candlelight Records in late 2002.

1349 Set U.S. Release Date For New Album
1349, the Norwegian black metal band featuring SATYRICON drummer Frost, have set a May 4 U.S. release date through Candlelight Records for their second full-length album, "Beyond the Apocalypse".
Recorded, mixed and produced at Studio Nyhagen in Norway, the follow-up to last year's "Liberation" was produced by the band, with engineering assistance by Kjartan Hesthagen and Dr. Davidsen.
Formed in 1997, 1349 — named for the year the plague hit Norway in the 14th Century — found immediate cult status with the recording and later release of their self-titled mini-album in 2001. Word of mouth spread like wildfire regarding the band's cold and aggressive musical offering, and Frost, who initially joined the group as a session musician, would later ask to become a permanent member. Vocalist Ravn, guitarists Tjalve and Archaon, and bassist Seidemann agreed and 1349 would become complete. The band signed to Candlelight Records in late 2002.

1349 To Enter the Studio This Month
1349 will enter the studio this month to record their new album, Beyond The Apocalypse.
1349 rose from the ashes of Alvheim in 1997, with Ravn (vocals, drums), Tjalve (guitars) Seidemann (bass) and Balfori (guitars). They recorded, but never released a demo in early '98. Balfori quit shortly after due to musical differences. In '99 they recorded the never released promo Chaos Prefferred.
1349 needed another guitarist, and found Archaon whose speed and technique took their music to a new level of intensity and brutality. Come spring 2000, 1349 wanted to record a new promo showcasing their new material, and Ravn asked Frost to do the drumsto get the speed required. Frost was later so impressed by the material written for the next release, that he wanted to become a permanent member of 1349.
Holycaust Records offered them a deal and released the new promo as an eponymous mini-CD. Early 2001 they felt they had enough killer songs for a full-lenght album, Liberation. Recorded and mixed in Gordon Studios, and mastered at Strype Audio, Liberation mixed seamlessly Old School with modern warp-speed hysteria. More...
