The Quill Checks In With Tour Recap

Sweden's The Quill just wrapped up a tour with Mammoth Mammoth and has now checked in with the following tour recap:

"A few days have passed since we got home from the Tiger Blood European Tour. The dirty clothes have been washed, the messy hair has been untangled & our livers have been recalibrated. First and foremost we want to thank everyone who came to the shows and rocked with us. Without you we are nothing. We love each and everyone of you.

"Big thank you also to our crew: Michael, Jerome, Annette and Reinhart (the bus comes first!) who made everything such as smooth ride. (Even though a train ride between Berlin and Bremen was kind of unnecessary, right Jerome? :)

"And a BIG thank you to our newfound brothers in MAMMOTH MAMMOTH. Mikey, Cuz, Frank and Pete - all the best to you and hopefully we'll see each other again soon!

"Cheers everyone! Before we finish off this year we have one last show in Kalmar on December 13th - to be recorded for a special project due out next year." More...

Pit Stories: A Heart-Warming View Of The Pit

We've been talking with bands and fans everywhere to get their mosh pit stories. This week, Robert Triches, bassist of Swedish metal band The Quill shares a different perspective with our readers:

We've got a few very hardcore fans that follow us wherever we go when we're on tour. It's truly amazing to see familiar faces in the pit (yes, they're always up in front) night after night after night, no matter what. And you realise that if you yourself hauled your ass 500 miles since last night, so did they, and that really warms a roadworn heart. Well, maybe it's because we go on tour so seldom that people travel across Europe just to catch a show, I don't know. Or maybe it's just the show... I don't know, and it doesn't really matter. The love we guys in the band feel for our fans are borderline unhealthy. Thanks so much for your support... You know who you are.

The Quill is set to release their first new album in five years with "Full Circle," which is due out on July 26th, 2011 via via Metalville Records.

Be sure to check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

The Quill Announces New Album Release

Five years since a last studio album, Sweden's The Quill is back with "Full Circle," which is to be released on July 26th, 2011 via via Metalville Records.

The Swedish four-piece has been around since the nineties and went on to release three acclaimed albums on SPV: "Voodoo Caravan" (2001), "Hooray! It's a Deathtrip" (2003) and "In Triumph" (2006).

With the touring cycle for the latter record completed, the band and singer Magnus Ekwall parted ways and The Quill was put on the backburner. Drummer Jolle Atlagic joined Finnish glam act Hanoi Rocks - touring Europe and Japan in the process - and also did a stint in The Real McCoy band alongside Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett. Christian Carlsson (guitar) and Robert Triches (bass) also kept busy with other projects. In 2010, it was time for The Quill again. Songs were written and Magnus Arnar (X-Ground Mower and Soul 78) filled the vacant vocalist spot.
