Pit Stories: Familiar Faces
We've been talking with bands and fans everywhere to get their mosh pit stories. This week we've got a story from Cyprus label Pitch Black Records' owner Phivos Papadopoulos to share:
On December 4th, 2010, Arryan Path were to headline a show in Thessaloniki, Greece, at Harley Bar and I tagged along with the boys. We arrived the day before and during the evening (of December 3rd) we were invited to go to Harley Bar where an Iron Maiden tribute band (The Prisoners) were to perform. Indeed an awesome band which simply amazed all of us as they played every maiden tune to perfection and kept going non-stop from around “2 minutes to midnight” til about 3am.
During their set however and while watching them onstage I kept thinking about how all the band members looked so unbelievably familiar to me; but I just couldn’t place them. My guess was that they also belonged in other bands that I may have seen here or there but nevertheless I kept struggling with my mind trying to figure out where the bloody hell I knew them from!
So the next day comes and during sound check I get to talking with the venue owner. At some point we start discussing the previous night’s cover band and how good they were. I asked if they play in any other bands and his reply was like a smack in the face, leaving me just standing there with my mouth wide open and feeling like a complete idiot. “Sure, they’re in Emerald Sun, a great local band!”
Hell yeah they’re a great band, I should know! They were our newest signing and their new album (“Regeneration”) was already scheduled to be released on February 11th! Of course, apart from phone calls and email exchanges, I had never actually met the guys face to face until then. It occurred to me then that the reason they all looked so familiar was from the time I spent reviewing their album’s booklet and looking at their photos in it. It goes without saying that I rang them up immediately and they came down for Arryan Path’s show and we all had an absolute blast!
Arrayan Path (recently changed from Arryan Path) recently announced that they're working on their third full-length album, "Ira Imperium."
Emerald Sun released their latest album, "Regeneration," earlier this year through Pitch Black Records. The band recently posted a song from the album online, "Chasing the Wind."
Be sure to check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.
Arrayan Path Issues "Ira Imperium" Update
Arrayan Path has issued the following announcement about working on a third full-length album:
"Mixing for the new album 'Ira Imperium' is about to start very soon. After a long recording period and a few ups and downs the band has reached the final stage before the release of the 3rd album.
"Cover for the new album is complete (see below) and song titles (final) revealed. The album features guests Tony Martin (legendary ex-Sabbath singer), Vagelis Maranis (Sanvoisen), Natali Kyprianou (a young new talent), Kikis Apostolou (ex-Armaggeddon) and Ilhan Erbil (The Unreal). Alexis Kleidaras (ex Deceptor) is featured on both rhythm and lead guitars alongside our guitarist Socratis. Be prepared for 'Ira Imperium'!"

Arrayan Path Announces Guest Vocalist
Cyprus power metal act Arrayan Path, which recently changed names from Arryan Path, has issued the following update about a guest vocalist appearing on the band's new album:
"As promised, we're back with the announcement concerning the guest vocalist on our upcoming album, 'Ira Imperium', to be released in September this year. So, without further delay, it is with great pleasure that we announce that Sir Tony Martin will make a unique contribution to the album with his incredible voice.
"We are truly humbled to have worked with this amazing singer, one of our all-time favourites! His singing has always been (and still is) out of this world and of course this is also evident in his performance on the song 'Ira Imperium (The Damned) where he and Nicholas do an incredible duet'. Again, a great pleasure and honour for us and THANK YOU Tony!"
Arryan Path Changes Name To Arrayan Path
Cyprus power metal act Arryan Path has issued the following announcement about changing the band's name and releasing upcoming material:
"In the last few months, things have started to move fast in the Arrayan Path camp, thus, we have a bunch of announcements to make. Some of them will probably come as a surprise to you but the truth is that we are all extremely excited about the following.
"Firstly, and maybe most importantly, Arrayan Path will not have just one album for you but two in a short period of time! We have worked our arses off during the last few months and have written lots and lots of good material! After discussing it with our label Pitch Black Records, we decided to put out the next album in 2 parts! The first one we announced already a while back. It will be titled 'Ira Imperium' and will be out in early September. The second album will be titled 'Stigmata' and will be out in early 2012! The albums do not share the same concept and are not connected lyrically in any way but musically they are similar. 'Stigmata' will be a bit more dark and epic but more or less both albums will sound like they were made to complete each other!
"As you may have noticed, we keep misspelling our name and, well, you're right! Due to obvious reasons and the fact that we grew tired of trying to convince people on the meaning of our name, we have decided to add an extra 'A' in the word 'arryan' thus changing the pronunciation of the name and of course completely eliminating even the tiniest of concerns that this band is in any way related to Nazism or any kind of racism or other extreme political views. This was always evident through our lyrics and live shows of course but despite our best efforts to try to convince people otherwise some still chose to look at it differently. More...
