Steelwing To Release New LP In January

Swedish traditional metal band Steelwing has announced that the sophomore release "Zone of Alienation" will be released on January 6th, 2012 (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, France) January 10th, 2012 (Sweden) and January 27th, 2011 (Rest of Europe).

The band commented on the album:

"The recording sessions at Leon Music with Rikard Löfgren were a blast! Everyone worked really hard to pull it off with a tight deadline but Rikard really understood the Steelwing sound and used his ear for melodies to bring out the best in our songwriting. The results speak for themselves and the progression of the band since our debut is obvious."

" 'Zone of Alienation' is a semi-concept album set in a not-so-distant future where the remnants of mankind have fled into outer space. Following the eradication of the Earth after religious wars have gone nuclear, they set out to find new worlds to colonize. The cover art was done by Dimitar Nikolov and it is an eerie depiction of heavily armed space pioneers setting foot on a hostile planet."

"Zone of Alienation" track listing:

1. 2097 A.D.
2. Solar Wind Riders

The official announcement reads:

"GRAND MAGUS on tour in January 2012 w/ BULLET, STEELWING, SKULL FIST & VANDERBUYST

"The year 2012 starts right off with a real sensational tour: GRAND MAGUS! These stoner-riff-metal kings from Sweden, who put themselves on the throne of several genres with their latest effort 'Hammer of the North,' will be playing Germany, Belgium, France, Holland and Switzerland. Riffs to bow down to! GRAND MAGUS not only kill on record but also on stage. Watch out for a massive wall of sounds, which will blow you away!

"With them on tour will be their fellow countrymen BULLET and STEELWING. BULLET, who just recently signed a deal with Nuclear Blast, are considered to be one of the high hopes of the dirty, fresh and new Hard-Rock wave. STEELWING will amaze you with their guitar playing a la Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, a real eyecatcher onstage and definitely one of the new young crusaders of heavy metal! They will be releasing their brand new album for the tour and live they are in best shape after being on tour with bands such as Blind Guardian, Accept and Sabaton!

"The line-up is completed by the positively insane SKULL FIST from Canada, who were already on tour with BULLET this year and also played the Power of Metal tour just a while ago. Old-school metal which couldn´t be more authentic and real! Their current longplayer „Head öf the Pack“ is out now and was highly acclaimed by both press and fans.

"Dutch VANDERBUYST were a true phenomenon in the underground-rock scene for some time and have now surfaced to take your souls! Live one mighty combo and a killer openening band for a killer tour!

" 'Frost and fire! How much metal can you take? Delivering swedish steel with an iron fist in Germany, Switzerland, Holland, France and Belgium. The Magus is thrilled to have our brothers from Bullet with us on this venture and we promise that no prisoners will be taken!' GRAND MAGUS

" 'We are absolutely stoked to hit the road again after the recordings of our second album, and we couldn't ask for a better line-up for this tour - it's gonna be a true heavy metal assault on the senses! We will of course play some of the classics from our first album but we'll also play a couple of new songs for all you metal marauders to raise your fists and scream along to!' STEELWING

Steelwing To Enter The Studio This Month

Swedish heavy metal group Steelwing has announced that the band will be entering the studio this month to record a sophomore album.

The album will be recorded at Leon Music Studios in Karlstad, Sweden with Rikard Löfgren. Some of the song titles set to appear include "Solar Wind Riders" and "Full Speed Ahead!"

Speaking on working with Rikard Löfgren, the band stated: "Rikard was one of several possible producers suggested to us by our management, not someone we had initially considered but after looking into his previous works we decided to meet with him earlier this year and discuss our ideas for a second album. We immediately felt confident that he was the right man for the job: as a metalhead, he understands our influences and what we want to achieve, but as a pop producer we also believe that he will be able to bring out the best in our song writing."

Steelwing Announces New Bassist

Steelwing, which is currently working on a new album, has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new bassist:

"Sometimes what you seek is closer than you think. As we have already hinted, the search for the new Steelwing bassist is over. We'd like to thank all the groovy bass players from all over Europe who applied for the job, it's been an honour to get to hear so many talented musicians.

"Eventually though, we realized that we already knew someone who felt and looked like one of us, knew all our songs by heart and - to our surprise - could also play the bass! Meet Nic Savage, blond bass thrasher and devoted US metal disciple. Armed with a scarlet Kramer 4-string, he will henceforth handle the bass duties of Steelwing.

"Left to right: Nic Savage, Alex Vega, Riley, Oskar, Robby Rockbag Take care friends and we'll see you all again in time!"

"Greetings metalheads! Some of you might be wondering what's up in camp Steelwing, so here's a quick update for you.

"We're currently working on material for our upcoming second album. Studio time has been booked for late summer and we've already had a rewarding meeting with the producer-to-be, with whom we seem to be completely on the same page. All in all, we're really looking forward to writing the next chapter in the Book of Steel!

"Oh, and Steelwing is once again a complete five-piece! More on this after the commercial break..."

Steelwing Splits With Bassist

Steelwing has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's bassist:

"We are very sad to announce that our bass player Skürk has left Steelwing due to life priorities that do not include any more extensive touring. We support his decision, remain the best of friends and could never thank him enough for his dedicated service to the band. Thus, we begin the search for a new bassist with whom we can continue the story of Steelwing, starting with our second album and the tours to follow it. If you are:

* 18-25 years old
* A skilled bass player with plenty of studio and live experience
* Devoted to the sounds and looks of 80's heavy metal
* Living in the Stockholm/Nyköping area, willing to relocate to it or otherwise capable of rehearsing 1-3 times a week
* Humble, in it for the music and prepared for hard work and life on the road

"...send an audio/video sample of your playing, a photo of your killer looks and a few lines about who you are to: steelwingbass@gmail.com

"The standard has been set: blood, sweat and tears are expected... We're looking forward to hearing from you!"

Steelwing Posts Tour Report

Steelwing has checked in with the final road report from the band's recent tour dates:

"That's it folks - the conclusion of the 2010/2011 Tour of the Wasteland! We are now finally back home and will finish up the writing of our second album, so stay tuned for release later this year!

"After a month of the relative comfort which a small tour bus can offer, the final Scandinavian leg of the tour was a bit more rough. We went back to basics, driving a rental van through the winter wonderland that is our home. We would like to thank:

* Accept & Gaby Hoffman - our heroes, inspiration and a very nice bunch of people!
* The Accept crew - most of which have been incredibly kind and helpful to us... and as for those who haven't, I've learned from moustasched rednecks on TV that karma will get you one way or the other.
* Everyone who has followed this blog
* ...and as always: all our fans and the people we've met on the road, as well as the other bands and crews we've toured with so far.

"See you all when we hit the road again!"

"Hola metaleros! We decided to do like regular feather-winged creatures and head south for the winter, and I must say it's been very nice with some sun and a milder climate, even though the nights have been freezing cold still.

"This venture included our first three shows in Spain, another country we'd love to play in again, as well as our return to Italy after the good times we had there last year (and again, we had a blast!)."

"Greetings metal hearts! We have now embarked on the Accept support tour which - needless to say - has been totally awesome so far! Steelwing Issues Band Update

Steelwing has issued the following update about joining Accept on tour and posting a blog online detailing the band's shows with Sabaton last year:

"Last week we assembled our lazy asses to the first rehearsal for the upcoming Accept tour. Since we'll be playing a lot of cities for the third time in just a few months we have decided to give our loyal fans a special treat: we're going to play a couple of songs we've never played live before! If you're lucky, that might even include something from our upcoming second album... Come see us, make your way to the front row and bang your heads like there's no tomorrow and you'll find out!

"At last, MySpace seems to have worked out the bugs in their blog editor, so again you will be able to follow my tour blog here. Meanwhile, here's some stuff from the Sabaton tour last year that never got published due to the MySpace fuck up."
