LostProphets Singer Ian Watkins Pleads Guilty To Child Abuse Charges
Ian Watkins, the singer of Welsh rock band LostProphets, who is currently on trial in Cardiff Crown Court, has today plead guilty to numerous child abuse offences, including the attempted rape of two babies. The court has heard that in one instance, he filmed himself abusing a child in a hotel in West London. He was aided by the mothers of two of his victims, aged twenty one and twenty four, who also abused the children and made them available to the singer. Watkins, along with his co-defendents, will receive sentencing on December 18th. A statement from DCI Peter Doyle, the senior investigating officer in the case, reads as follows:
"This investigation has uncovered the most shocking and harrowing child abuse evidence I have ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind that Ian Watkins exploited his celebrity status in order to abuse young children. Today’s outcome ensures that the three people responsible have been brought to justice.
"The safeguarding of children has been the primary objective for the investigation team and the outcome of this investigation has been achieved through a multi agency approach at an international level.
"Two very young children have been removed from this abuse and given a future that would otherwise have been denied them. The investigation has been extremely complex and challenging with key information and evidence being identified from witnesses worldwide.
"A significant amount of electronic data has been retrieved from computers and web based storage which has provided crucial evidence to support the case.
"South Wales Police has worked in partnership with Interpol, other police forces, National Crime Agency’s CEOP command, local authorities in England and Wales, the Department of Homeland Security in the USA and the NSPCC.
"Today’s outcome does not mark the end of our investigations and we will work tirelessly to identify any other victims or witnesses and seek the justice they deserve. Above all this investigation has been focused on the protection of children and my thoughts today are with those victims."
The trial is still ongoing and you can keep up to date with the shocking events at WalesOnline. We will bring you further details as they develop.
Ian Watkins was born in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales, before moving to Pontypridd, where he joined a number of bands, most notably LostProphets, who have sold over three and a half million records and headlined numerous big name festivals such as Download. They released five albums over their career, the most recent of which was 2012's, "Weapons," which peaked at number nine in the British album charts. Following the charges brought against the singer, the rest of the band decided to lay the name to rest.

I read them on that “other” site…..beyond vile.
I know EU doesn’t have the death penalty and I think America’s is way too lenient.
No punishment for this kind of behavior is too cruel.
And I’m tired of reading how we have to try and rehab people like this.
You guys know I’m not religious but if “an eye for an eye” ever applied it’s to situations like this.
You’re doing society a favor by getting rid of people like this.
They cannot and probably don’t want to be rehabbed.
They’re a burden to society and their victims deserve closure……blast em and be done with it!!!

I love seeing older people, especially those with kids, freak out and say this is the most disgusting thing they've ever read/heard of. TOTALLY justified of course, but the internet has done horrible things for my mental state.
Don't wanna rape children or anything lol. That'd be gross. But I've read, and seen waaaaaaaaaay worse things on the internet and I think about how much worse this could've been, and how there ARE people probably RIGHT NOW doing something worse. This dude didn't even murder anyone.
That being said, he should be killed. It'd be a waste of time and effort trying to rehab/jail him. And I've seen people say he should be killed in horrible ways. Not my opinion.
My opinion is just put him in a room, and pump it full of carbon monoxide. Easy and semi-quick. Then we can all be done with this stupid sh!t. It's been going on since the dawn of time, and it's never gonna stop. People are fvcked up and it'll never change, so the best thing anyone can do is rid themselves of people like this and make a conscience effort to be a better person in life, and treat other around you as well as possible.
Although I really think we need to rethink punishment around the world. It's like, back in the day you got jailed/killed for barely doing anything wrong (I'm talking like, guillotine, hanging days) . Now you can practically walk away free if it's the right circumstance and even if you get in trouble, the punishment isn't all that bad, with the exception of death, and even the methods of execution seem watered down because we're trying to be humane. My carbon monoxide idea seems humane enough. It'd just feel like you're feeling asleep. Anyway, besides that point, if we still had to worry about being dragged into Time Square and getting our heads cut off in front of a crowd, I think more people would try to better themselves. I certainly wouldn't wanna go like that. But I'm just rambling now.
A big letdown though. Kinda like As I Lay Dying and what they're going through. This is definitely worse, plus I didn't like this band anyway. If I did, it'd impact me the same way AILD did though, cause that hurt, since I really enjoyed that band, now I'll never look at them the same. No disrespect to any other members from both bands. Just their singers lol. Fvck them.

I'm 40, I think any kind of sexual predator should be put down. In MN, as well as the rest of the world we continue to see sexually dangerous people released back into society only to continue to victimize others.
It's too expensive to commit them indefinitely. In MN it's 200 grand a year per offender.
Sorry but rope is cheaper....and recyclable.
String em up.
Anyone who would harm a child is the worst of the worst and as far as I'm concerned, has forfeited their right to live.
ZMA brings up some interesting points. Your method of execution is...unique. You sound a little desensitized, which makes me kind of sad....but I'm not your dad...so...never mind.

I didn't directly mean you Oz, my bad =]. Although your post did spark that thought. I've just been seeing people say similar things on other sites all over, young and old. You're only a year off from me bro. 23
But yea, that'd be a swell way to go out I'd think, carbon monoxide. You're wasting waste with waste lol.
And BrianMN, allow me to quote myself good sir. " but the internet has done horrible things for my mental state."
You said what I was saying in the first place. I am desensitized. I know it. It can have it's ups and downs. I can deal with things others can't, while at the same time laugh at something that everyone else is making a big deal out of. I'm not a sociopath or anything. I have a great love of life and respect of others around me, and the well being of. It makes me sad too honestly, that I can read something like this, and practically feel nothing. The internet has just beat hundreds of stories, and images like this into my brain constantly. Anything won't have the same impact after a while if you're exposed to it long enough. TV news isn't too much better. That keeps the older generations just as desensitized.
But I'm aware of stuff like that, so I've actively brought myself back from turning into a mindless drone, with no regard for others. That's not how I want my life to turn out. The world is a beautiful place, and it's a shame that some people wanna throw negative energy into that.
Think of it like a war veteran. Some guys go serve and come back perfectly fine. Others with PTSD. It's just how people choose to deal with what they're exposed to. I've been exposed to terrible things thanks to the world wide web, as we all might have, but I think I've handled myself well throughout it. I can wake up in the morning, appreciate the day, and not go into my backyard and torture animals or rape people lol. Some people aren't as lucky even without the internet. Sorry for the essay. Rambling trying to make points. =]

When I read about this earlier today I actually went to google to find out if "babies" was sometimes used as British slang for young children or even toddlers, and found nothing. At that point I promptly forgot about trying to come up with a comment on this story and moved on to the rest of my day...
Seriously guy.. babies? Personally, I don't believe that there is any rehabilitating a person with a brain this broken.

ZMA....I hope no offense was taken. If so, I apologize.
You know everyone here likes you and you've brought a wealth of knowledge and insight to numerous articles.
As far as being desensitized I think we all suffer from that, myself included. Between the news, movies etc....yes, I see it in myself. I don't like it but it's unavoidable in this day and age.
And no....I never mistook you for a sociopath lol....you've always struck me as having your stuff together.

BrianMN, nah man, no offense at all. I guess I just rambled and over explained a bit lol. No apologies needed. Didn't mean to give off any weird "I might be mad/annoyed" vibes. A topic like this can spark a lot of discussion and thought. Appreciate the kind words though. Good to know I've been comin' around long enough for you guys to know I'm not bat sh!t. =D

Put the children for adoption to good homes. Use the money it would cost to imprison this ahole and put it in an account for the babies college.
BrianMN has the solution.
Oh and the mothers can have 40 awful yrs in jail so they can be released in time to live a couple lonely yrs.

Even if they don't have the death penalty, he will get his. Even criminals have their limitations and children is one thing that the prison system does not take kindly to. He might face death even if it does not come directly from the court system. All I can do is shake my head. I have two children and could not even imagine. Some times somebody no matter how hard society tries cannot be saved.

It just goes to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover. He is obviously a manipulative sexual deviant. He's a sociopath. Sometimes sociopaths go their whole lives without anyone realizing their disorder. This case was due to fame and talent. Many sociopaths find clever ways to mask or downplay their fetishes. Unfortunately, no one acted on some very obvious warning signs. I read that an ex-girlfriend actually went to the police and told them about how Ian wanted them to have a child so he could abuse it, but then again maybe they thought she was just a p***ed off ex-girlfriend. In this case they should have listened, but how do you know when to listen. There's no simple answer. The pedophile hysteria is getting ridiculous as it is. Not everyone is trying to screw your kids, but then again you can't be too safe right?
