Obituary is now tracking a new album, and the band launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the recording process.
The campaign reached its funding goal in a single day, but fans can still contribute as stretch goals have been added, including a documentary of the band's time in the studio. Obituary also comments:
"The immediate and overwhelming response has been absolutely unbelievable. We truly have the best fans in the world and thank you guys so much for getting us to our initial goal. Your response and support has us more determined than ever to make it to our ultimate goal which is releasing this album totally under our own control.
"This is not a campaign against the machine, or a bash on record companies. This is just one band's dream...after 25 years of music, to do it our way. Let's get this done!!!"
