The Rockstar Ramblings: Celebrating Excess

This week we are celebrating new videos that encompass excess. Drugs, girls, and lots of drinking are a good start for a celebration. The addition of leather, sex, and MURDER makes this a party.

THE EROTICS, a New York band, have released a music video for the song, “She Sucks The Life.” This video is not very uplifting unless you like twitchy girls and bottled beers. At 1:31 one of the twitchy zombie girls wraps a belt around a dude’s neck and drags him away and then a cheesy looking agent guy gets his head bashed in by the psycho girls. At 2:30, another unnecessary stabbing occurs when a guy reaches in his fridge for either a Fresca or another bottle of beer (let’s hope his last move was for the bottle of beer). The video ends with the psycho-zombie-twitchy girls rushing the lead singer to murder and eat, dry hump, or all of the above…

Brazilian rockers, DIRTY GLORY recently released a new ballad entitled “Every Time I Think About You.” Opening scene: Girl in leather and a pool table. There is also a guy depressed at a bar. We know he is depressed because he is pouring his bottled beer into a glass before drinking it. MY GOD, IT’S GOING TO BE OKAY! The beer-drinker-from-the-glass guy drunk dials his girl who texts him back: WE’RE THROUGH. Ouch, better pour another glass of beer. Back at the bar, there is trouble at the pool table and loner is just drunk enough to leave his glass and save the day. HE GET’S WHACKED! However, the girl feels bad for him and appears to want to have sex with him. Little does she know how obsessed he still is with his ex and that he has had three and a half glasses of beer poured from a bottle…

RAGDOLL’s new video for “All I Want” answers the age old question: What makes you want to have sex? Apparently armed robbery leads to fucking; as the suspects are unable to keep their hands off each other after robbing a deli. Also, what kind of idiot falls for that car-jacking scene at 1:30? That’s in chapter 1 of “Detroit for Dummies” people! The car theft is followed up by another robbery and then more fucking. In the end they take all of the cash and burn it. Why? More money, more problems. Less money, more fucking…

Former L.A. GUNS guitarist Tracii Guns has released a video for the song "The Sound", the first from his new project THE TRACII GUNS LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN. One of the early scenes depicts a backwoods cabin and a bottle of Southern Comfort. It’s been many (MANY) years since my bad Southern Comfort night and I still cringe. Just awful stuff. Anyway, this video has a lot of face washing, subway anxiety, and everything on the street is too loud. There is a girl on the bathroom floor and I’m not sure if she has overdosed or had a face-washing incident gone awry. Nothing is clear, including the grainy picture. Not happy about this…

It’s time for the DIEHARD DOLLS and “Hourglass” which is either a celebration of sex or about date rape. Regardless of the actual meaning of the song; props on the “chain” microphone stand and the lyrics “fucking all night.” Sometimes a song is just about fucking and ass shaking. This is one of those songs…

This is L.A. COBRA and they make great videos. “Stray Cat” starts with a masked cowboy saving the lead singer. After finding and helping him up, the cowboy brings him to his car which has a magic bright green guitar in the trunk. Out of nowhere, the band appears and it’s time to jam. A gratuitous purple spandex ass shot and a lot of salutes to the glam eighties follow. For the ending, how about an exploding guitar and a mysterious duffel bag, is that enough? Yes it is…

Sweden’s BAI BANG have released a video for “Everybody Everywhere.” If the attempt is to overload your senses with leather, bandanas, and foot stomps in the first twenty seconds, then this band does a GREAT job! The backstage footage is not too exciting, mostly finger pointing, autographs, and smoking cigarettes. However, it does pick up at 1:34 with shadow boxing and a double high five if that turns you on. My assumption is that the editing room was full of production assistants yelling MORE STROBE LIGHTS and MORE FIRE…

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE have released a video for the song "Hammered Again", the second single from their limited edition five song EP of the same name. Getting arrested while playing the juke box? I love this idea. In fact anytime someone plays Matchbox 20 this should be a rule. Flashback: The boys are out on the town. They like tall drinks, shots, and clubs that appear to be strip clubs without poles. There is a girl who appears to be the center of attention and is also the “wild one.” She frequents the stalls in the bathroom to snort cocaine. When she returns she is always in a better mood. MESSAGE: Drugs make you a happier and more balanced person. Also, apparently cocaine makes you want to pour drinks and use Twitter a lot. The girl leaves briefly to rip off a drug dealer and then stomp him into the pavement. MESSAGE: Drugs make you stronger. She returns and knocks out a guy for touching her ass. She is definitely the most fun girl at the party and also the most dangerous. Isn’t that always the case? MESSAGE: Drugs are awesome…
