Despite the fact that KORN's new cover of "Word Up", originally recorded by the legendary R&B act CAMEO, may raise a few eyebrows among the band's fans, guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer said he feels the song brings a lot of different listeners together. "It was just this great song with a good hook, and it was, you know, it kind of opened the door for a lot of people to listen to, you know, rap and hip-hop," he told Launch Radio Networks. "It turned a lot of white kids onto it, so I thought that was cool. And, you know, our version's, I think, gonna kinda do the same."

CAMEO's version of the tune, released in 1986, reached Number Six on the pop charts.

The track is the first single from KORN's upcoming greatest hits collection, due out on October 19. The album also contains the band's take on PINK FLOYD's "Another Brick In The Wall, Parts 1, 2, & 3".

KORN plan to issue a full album of covers in the near future. Other tracks the band have recorded include NINE INCH NAILS's "Head Like A Hole", PUBLIC ENEMY's "Fight The Power", and FAITH NO MORE's "We Care A Lot" (featuring a guest appearance by LINKIN PARK's Chester Bennington).
