Paul & Chris From Slipknot Speaks Out About New Material

Holland's FaceCulture recently spoke to SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray and percussionist Chris Fehn in the Jolly Carlton Hotel in Amsterdam for almost half an hour each. The first audio clips from their respective interviews can now be heard online at this location.
As reported here yesterday, SLIPKNOT have set "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" as the title of their long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "Iowa", due on May 25 through Roadrunner Records. The first track released will be "Pulse of the Maggots", which will be made available for download on the group's web site on March 30. A performance video for the album's first "official" single, "Duality", will be shot later this month in the group's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, with Mark Klasfeld and Tony of Vem and Tony.

Before all of you guys jump to buy the cd i suggest waiting because i just heard the new song they just finished 'pulse of the maggots' and its really really terrible, its sad.. i listened to it & its the worst slipknot song ever. Im not kidding, its all mellow & soft and garbage.. i cant even believe they would come out with a song like that, im guessing the cd is going to be the same way, all soft & mello.. so dont buy the cd or you will be making a big mistake.. you will waste $15 down the drain for a piece of worthless plastic. Dont get me wrong i love slipknot, they have came out with a good debut album & a sequal that is worth the buy, but the new cd 'Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses' is defonatly worth the wait. Im serious, its going to be crap & they are going to be just like the band Disturbed. At least try to find a way to preview the cd first, if u like what you hear thats fine.. but if your expecting insane lyrics, abnoxious yelling, or a really bad temper.. im going to tell you you WILL be disapointed. Instead everyone should be waiting for the new Dry Kill Logic cd or the new Fear Factory cd, that wont dissapoint you.

Fear Factory?Dry Kill Logic?WTF?Fear Factory doesnt even have double bass so they use a keyboard for the fast drumming.Pretty pathitic if you ask me.As for Pulse of the Maggot,you are f***in idiots if you dont think this is a good song.The music is so much more intricate than before.It wasnt mellow at all.Mellow to you fa**ots is no screaming right?f***in idiots.The music was just as fast as before.The screaming was cut down but there is still the same intensity within the lyrics.This album will prove it.You can be just as crazy with a whisper as a scream.The smart Maggots will see but the dumbasses wont and will turn on Slipknot.Thats good because we need to get rid of the idiot maggots because they make us look bad

I liked slipknot because they hate the world, they scream/yell & they expressed themselves in an angry way.. ok songs like (sic), eyeless, surfacing, spit it out, diluted, despise, people = sh**, disasterpiece, everything ends, the heretic anthem, gently... do u get my f**king picture????i even loved wait & bleed, and my plague.. so wtf is with this new song pulse of the maggots??? ok u listen to the heretic anthem & eyeless then listen to pulse of the maggots right after those songs & tell me that isnt f**king mellow??? & yes the reason why i like slipknot because they are really aggressive in thier music... i dont just like thier lyrics. Come to think of it i never liked the song Iowa. I do like slipknots melodic side but pulse of the maggots just sound so goddamn generic. That song just sounds like every other band, it just has slipknots name on it & im sorry thats just how i feel about slipknots new material.. if you like slipknot no matter what they do.. good for you but some people like me who like slipknot for thier aggressive side dont like the new song.. Deftones & Disturbed changed thier music style from aggressive to melodic or slow crap.. & who the f**k cares how Fear Factory makes thier music, i think thier newest cd is still going to be better then slipknots new cd.. thats if they gone soft with all thier music. & Dry Kill Logic.. they moved away from the (nu)metal style.. thats if they get off thier asses & start selling thier new album. & we will see if Slipknot has the same intensity when they are crazy with a whisper as a scream. Im sorry but thats not why i like Slipknot.. but we will see...

First off all why the f**k would u like to be called a maggot?? I can understand being called a freak or insane, but maggot.. im sorry but the first word that comes to me when someone is called a maggot is "fa**ot". Ok to me thats kinda retarted.. but thats my opinion. Anyways i dint really say (or mean) that i dint like slipknot's lyrics, i f**cked up my wording on that part, i just mean lyrics dont make up a song, you should like the way the music sounds as well. So far ive heard 'dont get close' and 'pulse of the maggots'...... which im really sorry to say doesnt have the same effect of the last two albums. iowa was supposed to be a flop to some people, but i totally disagree on that, but as for this album, it isnt looking great so far, and now would be the time to call it a flop. Their music is completely different, e.g the yngwie malmsteen guitar solo's and the marching at the start of pulse of the maggots resembles that of arch enemys 1st track from their new album. Im a huge knot fan, and i was busting to get hear the new tunes, but it just doesnt have that raw aggressive side, its like his voice has been dubbed and i'd probably have to class it as being 'mellow' in comparison to the last sh**, although i havent heard the rest of the album i doubt its gunna get the 5 stars....... i hope im dead f***in wrong tho.... im not gunna say slipknot have gone commercial but i'd probably say they took the wrong route out of this one. Who cares anyway i still get off on iowa and the older sh**, as long as......... corey doesnt do a durst that would be so fukn fukd it wouldnt be fukn funny.

IOWA was only considered a flop because it didnt have the shock value that s/t had.It was just as good or better but it didnt have anthing in it that blew people away because it didnt really have THAT MUCH difference from s/t.The change is the best possible thing to do to avoid a flop.Think about it.If it sounds like the first 2 it will be repetitive and not that great.With change it will be crazy as f*** because it will have sh** we never heard from them.Dont trip on Corey's voice.From what I hear it sounds like the old Corey at the shows.He hasnt lost sh**.I also hear that Duality is f***in insane.
