The Rockstar Ramblings: The Guns N’ Roses Top 25

Band Photo: Guns N Roses (?)
The story that won’t go away, NOT Guns N’ Roses elected to the rock and roll hall of fame, but will they reunite to accept the honor? Despite recent reports, this is HIGHLY unlikely. Here’s one person’s list of the top 25 GNR songs to date. As in the past, note that although personal opinion was weighted heavily, I also took into account popularity, videos, etc… Since there were overall too many honorable mentions I won’t list them; however, I will say that from Chinese Democracy the songs Better, I.R.S., and Sorry were all close to cracking the top 25.
#25 Used To Love Her (GN’R Lies)
Sure, it’s a joke, but it still is fun to sing in the pub after several pints.
#24 Down On The Farm (The Spaghetti Incident?)
The lone mention from the covers album released after the Use Your Illusion tours.
#23 One In A Million (GN’R Lies)
#22 Sweet Child O’ Mine (Appetite for Destruction)
#21 Live and Let Die (Use Your Illusion I)
To effectively cover a song you need to ADD something. Axl Rose and Co. adds an intensity that is executed to perfection, which is the only way you should cover a Paul McCartney song.
#20 You’re Crazy (Appetite For Destruction)
Some prefer the acoustic version off the GN’R Lies album. I like my crazy electric.
#19 Patience (GN’R Lies)
#18 Pretty Tied Up (Use Your Illusion II)
#17 Knockin’ On Heavens Door (Use Your Illusion II)
#16 Don’t Damn Me (Use Your Illusion I)
Everyone has their own strange likes or favorites. This one is mine.
#15 Estranged (Use Your Illusion II)
#14 November Rain (Use Your Illusion I)
#13 Out To Get Me (Appetite for Destruction)
#12 My Michelle (Appetite for Destruction)
#11 You Could Be Mine (Use Your Illusion II)
#10 Perfect Crime (Use Your Illusion I)
The rage in this song equals the rage on most of Appetite for Destruction.
#9 Civil War (Use Your Illusion II)
#8 Don’t Cry (Use Your Illusion I)
This MAY be a little high on the list (as you can see I don’t hold ballads in the highest regard), but it is my favorite GN’R ballad and IMO the best video from “The Trilogy.”
#7 It’s So Easy (Appetite for Destruction)
One of the greatest set list openers of all time.
#6 Mr. Brownstone (Appetite for Destruction)
One way to test whether a song is truly great is by the number of people who like the song without knowing (or caring) what it is about. This song passes that test.
#5 Nightrain (Appetite for Destruction)
#4 Coma (Use Your Illusion I)
This song has everything that was great about this band. Rumor has it (from the book “Watch You Bleed”) Axl had panic attacks during the writing of this song. Again, this song has everything that was great about this band.
#3 Paradise City (Appetite for Destruction)
#2 Rocket Queen (Appetite for Destruction)
Guns N’ Roses had a knack for sticking some of their best gems at the end of their albums, this one started that trend.
#1 My World (Use Your Illusion II)
Just Kidding.
#1 Welcome To The Jungle (Appetite for Destruction)
