New Down Album?

It was six years ago that the Brotherhood Of Eternal Sleep, better known as Down, issued their one and only album, NOLA. The combined forces of Phil Anselmo (Pantera) on vocals, Pepper Keenan (COC) and Kirk Windstein (Crowbar) on guitars, Todd Strange (Crowbar) on bass and Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod) on drums, made such an impact that at any given show, anywhere in North America, fans are always asking each other, when is the new Down record coming out?

Check out Kirk Windstein's comments:

"We're booked to go in on November 5th. Knock on wood but I think this time it's for real. We're going to do it at Dave Fortman's studio (Balance Studios in New Orleans, Louisiana). Dave won't be able to produce it cause he'll be in L.A. doing another band, but we're going to use his studio. I think we're getting Sterling Winfield, who worked on Pantera's Reinventing The Steel to come in. Warren Riker, I think, may be mixing it. He mixed the live COC. Some of that stuff is still up in the air but the time frame for the project is basically set for November." As soon as Phil finishes with his annual House Of Shock, Down will begin recording their sophomore effort. "Basically yeah," says Kirk. "Pantera get back from Europe in early October." Since this interview Pantera has cancelled their European dates as part of the Tattoo The Planet tour due to the terrorist attacks on America. Presumably this gives Phil more time to work on the new Down material. "Crowbar tour from September 15th to October 21st. COC is going out for three weeks on the first of October. We'll all just be getting home, take a few days break and get rolling. I'm super excited about it." Previous reports stating that Rex from Pantera has replaced Todd on bass are true, as Kirk confirms. "Rex is definitely playing bass on it. It's the same thing, just without Big T. The little bit that we have jammed together with Rex was really fantastic. I'm looking forward to it. I think it's going to be a great album. Hopefully it will come out in the spring next year."
