My family is steeped in law, has been for well over a hundred years. Their ranks have included three NM governors, two members of Congress, one US senetor, one US Supreme Court justice (NM), one Territorial Supreme Court justice (NM), one Environmental Protection Agency board member; these among many other Attorneys at Law in my family whom had no interest in politics, but are otherwise of high reputation

For my own part, I have diligently worked (LEGALLY) for the benefit of Wildlife in my state, and beyond, though to a somewhat lesser degree. I suppose my greatest success to date was the then Governor's call for an 'emergency' Special Legislative Session in response to a proposal I wrote (directly supported by the Chairman of the State Game Commission) concerning the need for NM to immediately impose strongly enhanced penalty assessments for the illegal take of Big Game species ahead of the 2006 season...the item passed, and was signed into law.

With respect to this, my cousin and her husband are currently prosecuting a poaching case for our local District Attorney's office which will carry Civil Penalties of around $200,000 in addition to the substantial Criminal Assessment a case of such gravity provides for. The Civil dollars will be routed directly into our Wildlife Programs. Without 'my' statute, NO money would be entitled to NMGF

Whaling, and International fisheries harvest in general, are incredibly complex issues, and there is much misinformation and abuse of the resource by ALL those involved; but the employment of guerrilla tactics by a rogue gang of hotshot 'Shepherds' of questionable qualification and integrity is most certainly NOT a solution

Now please, define "illegal" whaling, and how the hell you know whether or not the targets to whom the pirates choose to apply their unsavory practices are justifiably 'legitimate'?

Indeed it is Cynic, probably the greatest abuse of 'privelege' by ANY nation

The RAPIDLY downward spiral of the Greater Tuna can also be directly attributed to the insatiable demand of the Tokyo fish market...but no one seems to care much about the 'stupid fish', despite the fact that these tuna species are some of the most awesome predatory animals on the planet in and of themselves, and are of irreplacable importance to the overall health of oceanic ecosystem

I strongly support the conservation of wildlife and fisheries by proper and competent management, including the employment of sustainable harvest quotas...I have a deep respect for the provenly successful principles that constitute the North American Conservation Model, and hope that the science based management strategies outlined therein will continue to spread throughout the international community

I STRONGLY oppose emotionally-based sensationalist and self righteous 'conservation' groups like fvcking SeaShepherd, Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, etc

Its really too bad the good public is so easily misled, and that decent artists are beguiled into feeling compelled to endorse these organizations out of a misguided 'sense of duty'
