Amon Amarth Posts New Song, "War Of The Gods," Online

Swedish melodic death metal act Amon Amarth has posted a new song online, taken from its forthcoming album "Surtur Rising." The track, titled "War of the Gods," is available for streaming in the player below. "Surtur Rising" will be released in North America on March 29, 2011 through Metal Blade Records.

^^Love it. I posted a low quality radio rip of this from full metal jackie over the weekend on FB but i'm glad there's finally a full quality version to enjoy! I to am glad they changed up the opening track on this album. Mind you, i LOVE the opening tracks of the past 2 albums, Valhall Awaits Me and the title track to TOTTG, but they were very similar to each other, so im glad this song has a few flavor for an opening track. The amazing thing to me is when i met Amon Amarth on their tour with Tyr and Holy Grail last year, they said they didn't have ANY songs written for a new album and were just going to write and record some new stuff in the studio. I guess they're pretty damn good at writing under pressure.

I definitely like it alot more than the stuff on "Twilight" or "With Oden" but I will reserve my final verdict until I get to hear the full record. Although, I do hear a little bit of "The Crusher" in this song.

Im surprised of how few people are familiar with Amon Amarth's earlier work! I got into them when "The Crusher" came out, which is a decent album but "The Avenger" is a masterpeice!

Sounds great, can't wait for the new album. It sounds better than most of the stuff off there last album(except maybe Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags), it was good but i liked "With Oden On Our Side" Much Better.
