I like the first two songs.
Classic Dimmu.
Gateways just breaks my heart.
Call me sexist, I HATE female vocals with metal.
Even if that isn't Vortex I just refuse to listen to that song.
The vocals remind me of that Metallica song The Memory Remains with that old bag singing La la la la la etc.... BLECH!!! Only gateways is worse.
Damn cat.

Just picked up the album (Germany), it's pretty epic sounding. The orchestra seems overwhelming at some points, but still an excellent release considering the new members. I can accept change, it's definitely not like their old stuff, but still damn good. The female vocs on Gateways is the worst part of the album.

I just don't like female vocals when they're operatic, like when Tarja was with Nightwish or that abomination Kimberly Goss. I like it when it's more beauty and the beast-y or kept to a minumum, like Eluveitie. But then again that woman in Arch Enemy sounds good enough to be a guy.

Haha i feel like im the only one who actually enjoys the female vox in gateways. I think it adds to the creepiness of the song to have such a gothic and dissonant voice just smack in the middle of the epic black metalness. A bit jolting at first, but i sincerely liked it after a couple listens. And i personally think this album is the sh**. Born treacherous surprised me constantly with its awesomeness.

FAN: You might just be...lol. Let me just say that I do respect them for trying to diversify a little...but I didn't enjoy "Cruella Deville" one bit. Infact, that's the only part in that song or the whole album I dislike. I think PRTB is correct on this one...they're still making music at a high caliber level but they're not going to surpass In Sorte Diaboli.

i could not even begin to keep a straight face, it sounds like a goddamn cartoon....oh, i mean a 'symphonic' and 'cinematic' epic ;)
