Abandon All Ships Posts Debut Music Video For "Take One Last Breath"
Canadian dancecore act Abandon All Ships have released their first ever music video for the song "Take One Last Breath" from their debut full length album of the same name. "Take One Last Breath" is due for release in October through Underground Operations/Universal Music in Canada and through Velocity Records in the United States.
"Take One Last Breath" was formerly titled "Pedestrians is Another Word For Speedbump" and the original recording was featured on the band's self released EP.

I'll admit, I am a bit biased on this topic because I am a fan of the band.
But then again, this sort of stuff just goes to prove that 95% of the people who comment on the posts here are elitists and are just aiming to bash at every chance they get.
If you dont like melody, fine. If you dont like catchy hooks, fine. If you dont like musicianship, fine. The fact is though, these guys are so far from being the representation of "core". There are much much worse bands, that have no creativity at all. We Are Gentlemen, Chelsea Grin. Much more bland and basic.
At least these guys are trying something different, that hasnt been done before. Its alot harder to break new ground than to write the same death metal album over and over and over again.

Oh brother, give me a break. I like melody, hooks and musicianship just fine.
What I don't like is trendy fashion and haircuts, choreographed hardcore dancing, fake tough guy attitudes, and bands designed to sell albums. This band is playing the same derivative metalcore everyone else is at the moment, the only new thing they've done is combine it with derivative pop and techno. The part where they combine the two is the only shred of originality they have.
Yes they are far from the representation of core, but they are the exact magnification of everything I dislike about core. Oh, doesn't it make sense that instead of 95% elitists posts, it's 5% who don't get it?

I agree with The_Avant_Garde, seems like most of the hater comments are from elitist jerks who think that the music they listen to is automatically superior to anything else, including this. There is nothing wrong with this band's music, and they are indeed far from this ideal representation of 'core'. May I add that the dancecore term was implied by the writer of the article and the band has not classified themselves as a dancecore band, to my knowledge. The use of genre labels is helpful in organizing and classifying different genres of music but I think people get a little excessive with it at times. All of these sub genres of core and what not, is there any need? Music is music, who cares about genres.

Elitist this, elitist that, whine whine whine. There's no use in getting worked up when people don't like a band, and throwing out insults about it is childish. I'd expect that kind of moaning from your standard idiots like the guy above me, but not a writer for the site, The_Advant_Garde.
Anyway, I popped in with the intention of noting these guys' absolutely retarded name, not their terrible music. "Abandon Ship" would be passable, but seriously, when has the order ever been given by higher-ups to "abandon all ships"?

Sakura-13 gets it right, spot on.
If people could go back, read what I said you would see that im being as fair and unbiased as I possibly can.
Natsquatch fails to read the part where I said, if you dont like them for whatever reason that is completely fine. Im not saying who has to like them, and who doesnt. But its comments like "d00d lyke TeH wtf man!!!!11!!1!, werez dah growlzZZ frum TeH death metalz?!!1!!!?!" that really prove why so many bands make the same record over and over and over again, for fear of being written off.
If you dont like a band's MUSIC then all the power to you. But metal has and always will be about the music. If you dont like Abandon All Ships because of their sound, then you've made an educated decision and you have that right. I applaud you for it. But give a full song a listen and dont write them off based on HAIRCUTS and CLOTHING.

I SERIOUSLY doubt the reason any band writes the same record over and over because they are scared of backlash, they do it because they're either good at it, love it or they have no other ideas. Also, you don't need to do something new to be amazing - Master of Puppets is exactly the same format as RTL but they're both classics.
I totally agree that you should judge a band on the music alone. I just happen to also despise a lot of other things about "Abandon All Ships".

jeez Avant....
that is exactly what i do NOT care for whatsoever, their sh!t 'music'....its utter crap---quite hardly 'metal' either
and i do NOT need to be further 'educated' in my decision by enduring the entirety of the irritation that is this ultra sh!t song
their stupid name, junior lyrics, and chunder image just ADD to their despicability....the bass yarfer with the synth vox SOUNDS like lil' justy berber, the fact that he emulates his look makes him even more fvcking pitiful...the tough-boi core guy SOUNDS like a fvcking idiot, his look empahasizes it further...and so on and so forth
and nowhere here did i read a comment anything like imaginary that nonsense you 'quoted'
just so we're clear ;)

No worries, The_Avant_Gard, they'll never get it nor take into consideration through their thick skulls of what you're trying to convey. I suggest going on your merry way and enjoying what you love, haters will hate. The arrogance is so heavy here, please don't let losers who act tough through a keyboard get you down. You're so much better than that!

Horse the Band do the techno-core thing far better imo. The idea isn't even new. In fact, the idea of a more pop-oriented techno-core sound isn't even new. Sky Eats Airplane have two full-lengths, and with other bands (Vampires Everywhere are similar I believe) "debuting" as well. I'm sure they've been around for a couple years, but the label only picked them up to cash in on today's new thing.

I admire your honesty and loyalty to the music you like...if you like this band, you should stand firm and defend it, props for that to you...
The bands not for me, i just peaked in to see why there were 20 some odd posts...
No offence but i did LOL to branded when he said he stopped this 29 secs in, then hellrat with his classic assaults....i can never get enough of those guys...
Personally B & Rat need there own blogs/twitter accounts, whenever im down in the dumps or dragging those 2 always seem to say something to get me to ROFL...
All seriousness, good luck to AAS
