i feel slipknot's pain. i miss paul grey so much
when i lose an idol in music, it feels like ive lost a family member or a close friend. even though i never personally knew them, it still feels like that to me. :(
same w/ pete steele and ronnie james dio, i miss them too :(

Rip Paul Gray my metal brother
I loved the first 2 slipknot albums, the self titled and iowa., Vol 3 and all hope is gone where sh** albums. I really think it is time for slipknot to call it quits, they cant be running around the stage in stupid clown masks when one of their band members has just died. The only motive for slipknot to continue is money. They have to leave the gimmicks behind and just believe in themselves that they can be top selling recording artists without the masks and jumpsuits.

I feel bad about Paul but, I was disappointed with the press conference. No news at all. They have every right to grieve but, they should only confront the public when there is news about the band going forward. Never-the-less, Joey said a few months back that they would release and album in 2012. It should be addressed before SS, DLR, and MD proceed any further. I have no doubt that the eight of them are having ongoing discussions about the direction and future of the band. I can see another album as a tribute to Paul but, at the same time, I can see the argument to not proceed any further.

Man that is hard to watch. Paul always seemed to be one of the most down to earth and least rock starish members of Slipknot. f***in Mick and Jim couldn't even say anything which shows how tragic it is. My thoughts are with his bandmates, friends, and especially his wife and unborn daughter who will now never get to meet her father. I'm so sorry :( R.I.P. Paul Gray 38 years young

Ya this was tough to watch, but i think future projects at this time are the furthest thing from in each member's mind, or atleast should be.
Personaly idk what the bands future will hold, but they really dont need a new bass player....chris fehn plays bass in his new band, idk if chris can make the transition but i think he would die trying for the bands sake....for me, chris seems like the coolest guy of the group, good sense of humor, humble, never says much or rambles....none the less whatever SK does im sure the decision will be the right one...

This is me not caring as well..for the band that is.. but as for Paul, rest in peace man. I wish your wife and baby well.. I hope that your death will make your bandmates more inspired to create "better" music because I'm gonna be honest with you, your current materials suck.. I liked the self titled and Iowa but beyond that, I didn't give a sh**. R.I.P to you man and I wish your band the best of luck. PS: For all you fa**ot maggots, please stop being rockstars and start making GOOD MUSIC now that your brother is dead...

I mean i havent been a fan since 03, but now is not the time to critic the band, its direction or its music.....i was a diehard maggot 99-03 so on that note, no matter how bubblegum sounding they've become, when something tragic or dramatic happends, i guess i ll always care about these guys to some degree....*finishes ramble*

@ RTB - youre right bro. I will forget my hatred to their music for now. I just really hope that this event will inspire them to make better music than what they are making now and stop making gimmics that would make them look cooler instead of being a better overall band. Again, RIP Paul Gray and everyone misses you. Bang your head with Dio and Pete Steele wherever you guys are. Horns up from the Philippines \m/

I'm a bit torn up about Paul's death still.. the few times I met him he was always such a nice guy. He was high as hell, but still a nice guy.
Oh, and for those of you wondering, the guy on the end, next to Chris, was Mick (you can kind of make out the "seven" tattoo on his arm). Craig was the guy in-between Sid (love the Transformers tattoos on his hands) and Jim.

gojirasaurus: shut the fuk up, now is not the time to be acting all "I know more than you, hurr durr!"
This issue on whether Slipknot should keep going is torn between two possibilities. On one side, there's a chance that they may call it a day since its just not the original core anymore. The Knot are one of those rare bands where if one member is gone, the whole formula comes to ruins. On the other hand, there's also the idea where the guys could ask themselves: "What would Paul want?" Would he really want the group to call it quits or push on forward?
If these guys do continue, I won't see it as a greedy act to keep earning money. Personally, I see it as a family still coming together, holding on, and pushing for what they stand for since their very beginning of their road. As well as continuing Paul's legacy.
Although I may not be a hardcore Maggot anymore as I was when I was younger, I still hope for the best for these 8 remaining men in whatever path they may choose.
R.I.P. Paul Gray

fvckin A pinto...that was really nice to read. I see them coming back with a new look on life, more p***ed off than the early days, and ready to kick some ass. To me the last two albums were experimental and the most recent just showed them becoming stagnant and bored overall. This death will hopefully re-ignite a passion in these guys. There's obviously going to be the haters that will hate, and the die hard maggots that won't accept Slipknot without Paul...because essentially as the band stated in the live press conference...Paul WAS Slipknot. but c'est la vie, you make due with what you have. I know Paul would've wanted them to keep his dream alive and I think they know that too. Either way I wish nothing but the best for the band and Pauls friends and family members.

may Paul's soul rest in peace and his smile shine down on us all from the great beyond. my best wishes and heart go out to his family, his wife and unborn daughter.
just like back in the good ol' days, when i was a diehard-slipknot-know-it-all maggot...

Its kinda hard to send a RIP out to someone if that person ODs or has a drug induced death...if its a freak accident thats different but if its proven paul died of something stimulating from drugs then bg has a point....
I wont disgrace his name either way, but itll effect my opinion on the guy as well...
I think thats what he meant in post 32, 666.....
38. writes:
bg1: if it was drug induced, the only thing of my opinion of him that would change would be just that i would feel less bad/sorry for him, like u said, especially considering him having a wife who's pregnant. just like any other rockstar who's been killed due to drugs, as modern as dave williams (drowning pool) or as old school as jimi hendrix. one still loves and respects them and even misses them, but u just can't help but feel a little less sorry for them when it involves drugs. as the same kinda goes for suicide (Kurt Cobain [Nirvana]).
39. writes:
BG1, do you think anyone would give a sh*t if YOU died? I'd be willing to bet people who know you and love you would care, just as family/friends/fans of The Knot care about the death of Paul. I'd be 2 faced if I said you were not allowed your opinion, because I've always maintained that strong opinions are the ONLY ones welcome on a metal site, but acting like a pen!s-leach and spouting a bunch of "tough guy" BS just makes you look exactly like the caption below your avatar....a MEMBER.

Killer: That was awesome... Cheers. But back to the point. If you met him or knew him i'd understand the outpouring of emotions i've seen over his death in some of you. But i'm willing to bet most of you are just maggots. I am not a fan. Furthermore, I find it hard to "show respect" for a junkie that burned out in a hotel room with a wife and unborn child at home. From what I understand from people that knew him; he was constantly high. In my eyes, respect is earned, not given.
metalgod666: I post to whatever I want, whenever I want. I don't need a snot nosed little queef sniffer like you to tell me what to do because I'm a grown man. If you ever become relevant I might just let you take more verbal abuse from me but for now you're boring me. BTW, WTF is a "fagit"?

I'm by no means a Slipknot fan and never was, although I still think Iowa is an awesome album (I keep saying that here) but nevertheless Paul passing was sad news for me.
The video was Very hard to watch, and I truly raise my hat off to the guys of Slipknot for doing this. A true tribute to Paul.
As for the "Let's batter Blindgreed1" campaign going on here, This is an open forum, and BG1 clearly didn't care, so that's exactly what he expressed on his post #16 (which didn't suprise me at all, knowing exactly what type of a slipknot "fan" Bg1 is ;) What's the big deal? If you can't deal with what's been posted here, don't come here. As simple as that. Had it been Dave Mustaine, guess what I'd posted ?? ;)

Pauls death is very tragic to all fans, even to people who dont like or care for slipknot, its very saddening.
He was an inspiration to many people. I cant imagine what the band members are going through and how hard it is.
Its so sad watching his band members sit there at the interview speaking about it, crying or tearing up. Its so sad to watch, and truly shows he was a better person then people think or know. Even other bands that seems like they wouldnt care for slipknot are saying R.I.P Paul Gray, like the Devil Wears Prada, what does that say?
It shows he didnt have just an influence to his fans, but to people all around the world. Even a christian band is showing him respect? Why is it so hard to for some of you to?

Ah, BG1, a "cheers" from a sh!t-talker of your caliber warms the c***les of my black little heart...
I recently heard (not from a reputable source, which is why I bring it up) that the word was that Paul's demise was of natural causes...anyone heard anything like this? If so, I do concede the "natural causes" could have eaisly been from decades of substance abuse catching up. Just curious if anybody else had heard anything similar?

#50, I'm not sure what the fvck that was supposed to all mean...but I can guarantee you've never read the book of Satan at all because it's not about worshipping "Satan" but merely doing everything and anything your heart desires. Seriously, before you go spouting off like you have 1/10th of a clue go do your homework. None of the band members follow the church of Satan either, not sure where you're getting that from. One last thing, it's Anton La Vey, not Levey.
"...the Satanist simply accepts the definition which suits him best. Man has always created his gods, rather than his gods creating him. To the Satanist "God"...is seen as the balancing force in nature, and not as being concerned with suffering.
The passage from which this is taken, when viewed as a whole, suggests that "God" is a human concept, a means of explaining that which men have been unable to explain either through ignorance or through philosophical inability to grasp the nature of reality"

ES, i think the guy is chyming in via indonesia,....from what i can gather from a few posts from other threads....
A leak in the des moines PD stated to blabbermouth, and the AP that pills and needles were found at the scene of pauls death....just have to wait 3 more weeks for the tox reports to be sure...dont assume anything...

I think this is obviously a drug over dose.
Regardless weather you think Slipknot is a sh!t band or you love them, It's not right to point this guy out and call him a d*** or its no lose.
I'm not ganna get worked up because there would be no point in that but in BG1 case , he is entitled to what ever he wants to say on this website.
It's a site for us to leave our notes for others to read, get p***ed off or even laugh at.
BG1 clearly notes that he didn't care.
But it's the people that get upset over that , you all look stupid.
I respect Slipknot, regardless if I am a fan or not.
Rip Paul!

Killer and TK: Natural causes in this stage in the game just means that it wasn't a homocide (i.e. heart stopped as opposed to a gunshot). Toxicology can take up to 2 weeks depending on the case load. I really can't imagine any other reason why he'd be in a hotel room so close to home, but i'll reserve judgement.

ES: I've seen the "Mythbusters" disprove a lot of things that are actually very plausable, like the death from a bullet fired into the air. We actually have a law here that forbids people to fire a shot into the air because a little girl died from it back in the 90's. I'm not gonna let those hollywood geeks dictate my speach.
Meh: You'd do better just to ask me out on a date as opposed to stalking me on metal underground. At least then you could deal with the rejection on a level you could understand. When you queef, do you hold up your nutsack and then sniff your fingers afterward?

this is just so phockin' tragic and sudden. i just still cannot believe this sh**. this video's pretty hard to watch w/o just feeling a weight pulling down on ur heart man. his wife's pretty and she seemed strong so hopefully she'll be able to raise their unborn alone just fine. something bugging me about the video, i know who everyone is, but who the HELL is next to chris fehn?? NOT james root, but the guy that u can't see that's off to the right (left of chris fehn). and was that craig jones, between corey and joey, that actually spoke?? well, paul will be miss deepily and i will getting back on my old slipknot albums in his memory and blasting them in my car. may his soul rest in peace and my best wishes to his wife and unborn daughter.
