As was reported yesterday, Slipknot bass player Paul Gray was found dead in a Urbandale, Iowa hotel room at around 10:50 yesterday morning, with the cause of death currently unknown. Several of his peers have posted tributes online, including a video message from Munky of Korn. You can check out the tributes below.
Brian Fair (Shadows Fall): "I'm so crushed to hear about the passing of Paul Gray. I had the pleasure of first getting to know him on a press trip to New York City before our tour with Slipknot and Lamb Of God in 2005 and then sharing stages and good times with him and the boys around the world. He was a great musician, an underrated songwriter and a truly warm soul underneath the evil mask he rocked onstage. This is a huge loss to the metal world. He will be missed deeply." Chris Beattie (Hatebreed): "It came as a surprise today to hear that Paul Gray passed this morning. He was a great guy and an amazing bass player. I consider it an honor to have gotten to know him. His contribution to the music world was enormous and will live on forever. R.I.P."
Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed): "Paul was a stand-up guy and a great musician. He and Slipknot changed the face of rock music as we know it. Just about every metal band member from 1999 onward owes him a salute. My condolences to his band, family and fans. We'll miss you dearly, Paul. We are eternally grateful to you."

Even with all the slipknot bashing i dish out, pauls passing actually made me sad. Not dio sad, but nonetheless upsetting. Not to mention he was one of the players in the band i considered good at what they did. Irregardless of talent, or whether i like a band, dying before the birth of your first child is f***ed up and i wish that on no one. Well, maybe corey. rip paul
