Death Metal Singing Trainee Teacher In Danger Of Losing His Job In Germany

A German trainee high school teacher has been warned that he will be dismissed if he refuses to give up his role in death metal band, Debauchery. The 29 year old Thomas Gurrath is training to become a teacher in politics, history and ethics at Hegel Gymnasium in the city of Stuttgart, but is known in the local metal scene as "The Bloodbeast," his stage name with Debauchery, who feature naked, blood smeared women in their act.

He has now been given the ultimatum to choose between teaching and death metal as education authorities have told Gurrath he will have to give up the teacher traineeship he began on January 1 unless he quits his band.

Clemens Homoth-Kuhs, spokesman for the regional education authorities, told the Daily Bild: "We have in the end agreed that Mr Gurrath is now to stop his traineeship, but have told him that he can start again under certain conditions."

As much as i luv and support metal, and will defend it until the day i croak, in reality the guy has to put food on the table and think about his future......its bullsh!t that he's in this prediciment, but the guy has to do whats best for him and his family....hope it works out for him and bloodbeast will continue his work in the metal community....

The General Equal Treatment Act of 2006 - loopholes would probably be included around bullet 3. Which probably reads "no freaky death-metalers can be school teachers...". Don't know how they'd objectify their ill-reasoning, but I'm sure it'd happen.
