Kerry King Says...

According to SLAYER guitarist Kerry King, the track “Dead Girl Superstar” off ROB ZOMBIE’s forthcoming The Sinister Urge CD, on which King makes a guest appearance, was not the song that he originally recorded his guest lead for. “I recorded a song on his album and then for whatever reason they decided not to use that particular song, so they took the lead from the recording and put it on another song,” King stated during an Australian webchat a few days ago. “Wonders of modern recording!”

During the same chat. King reaffirmed his recent statement that MACHINE HEAD has gone “sappy” since the release of the group’s debut album, Burn My Eyes (a King favorite, apparently). When asked if he still stood by his statement that MACHINE HEAD “had gone soft”, he responded, “Yeah, undoubtedly!” SLAYER and MACHINE HEAD have just completed a host of Australian and Asian gigs together, during which the two bands reportedly renewed the bond they originally established back in 1994 during their first combined outing in Europe and the US. Commented King: “Since the last time we toured with [MACHINE HEAD], which was like in ‘94 or ‘95, [MH bassist] Adam [Duce] has turned into a drunk like Jeff and I! So Jeff, Adam, Paul and I hang out all the time.”
