Killswitch Engage To Continue Touring with All That Remains Frontman Phil Labonte On Vocals

Last week, it was announced that Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones had to unexpectedly leave the band’s current headlining tour, leading to a flurry of rumors and questions about the status of the tour and the band. The band has further issued the following statement addressing the matter, saying: “It became overwhelmingly obvious to all of us around Howard that he is in no condition to be on tour right now and that he needed to get off the road and get himself better. It’s a personal matter and while we understand everyone’s curiosity and concern for Howard and the band, we appreciate everyone respecting Howard’s privacy at this time.”

Longtime friend Phil Labonte of All That Remains was able to fill in and help out the band for a few shows and it appears as though he will be filling in for the remainder of the tour, which runs through March. Killswitch Engage endured and survived a similar situation in the past, where guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz was forced to sit out a tour due to a back injury. Killswitch Engage also said, “We seriously considered cancelling the tour since we don’t want to give fans that paid good money anything less than KsE at full-strength. But after trying a few shows with Phil, and after feeling the love and support that we were getting from the crowd, it became increasingly apparent to us that the shows came across as fun and unique, and the fans seemed to be enjoying it. We quickly realized that we had to keep going and that we couldn’t possibly stop.” Refunds are available for any fans that have already purchased tickets, but as the band said, this tour will offer a chance to experience Killswitch Engage in a unique way that you won’t be able to witness again.

Furthermore, the band would like to thank all fans who came out to support them during this difficult stretch, exclaiming “We really do feel that our fans are the best fans in the world.” The band also thanked Labonte for pitching in, saying “We can’t thank Phil enough for helping us out when we needed it the most.”

For a taste of Killswitch Engage with Labonte on vocals, check this footage from the Baltimore show this past weekend, check out the video below. I'm sure it's pretty easy to fill in for a vocalist when you let the crowd sing the entire set for you. Motherf***er, I paid $30 a ticket to see this sh**. YOU sing.

I don't know about anyone else, but Howards stage presence alone is worth the 30 bucks. "Are you adequately prepared to rock?" LMFAO!!!

There was a poster in the thread linked above that stated that a guy that worked at House Of Blues told him that Howard wouldn't return to the band. Am I to believe that this was not credible information? OR is DB the questionable informant? Hmmmm... lol. Time will tell...

JONE's can sing...'I mean Wow "sing" in that clear-clean voice (also Jesse can, too KSE 1st Vocalist...'but Howard's my favorite though...'that song "Breakin' Heart" WOW!!!) and in that "frightening" horror voice which both brought him mega fame. I your rest and plenty of sleeeep Mr. Howard...'maybe this is the some of the problem "many" Professional musicians hardly get any rest which in the end will catch up with you & knock you flat if your not careful. "Broken Heart" or "End of Hearthache" that's what I meant to say above: I must say I have to show/give respect for another fame Vocalist/musician Phil Labonte with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE live video above. He did pretty cool with it and the audience helped him along with the singing. And with all due respect I hope that JONE's brief departure will be a speedy one: his Vocal range is a powerhouse/when he hit those high notes...'well amazing vocal abilities he has! Peace and Godbless to the members of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE: they have alot of energy that's for damn sure. cheers.

Nasquatch, I'm totally with you on the Joel/Brent Hinds resemblence. I noticed immediately and knew someone else would catch it as well. I missed out on Killswitch two days ago in Chicago. It sucks but at least I didn't have to deal with all the Devil Wears fa**ot wigger scene kids. STAY METAL MY FRIENDS!

The fact of the matter is adding Phil to the show meant a way better set list. I only had to listen to one song off of their new sh**ty album. They played three songs from the original self-titled cd that Howard never touches live. Howard is better than Phil, but it was worth it to see KSE's old music.

i have to say, i grew up on these guys being from mass. both KSE w/ Jesse, then Howard, and SF w/ Phil, and Brian obviously. Phil is not that bad live. All That Remains are not my taste as KSE and SF are not either anymore but some ppl have to get off his back. He is doing his friends, and the fans a huge favor by filling in for Howard. I preferred Jesse too, but he is never coming back so get over it. And the first SF full length with Phil on it trumps everything they have done since. Point is, he's doing the band and the ppl that don't want their refund a service so ppl need to calm down. Howard should still be w/ BHBS anyway. Far better than any of the above mentioned bands
