Warbringer Issues Tour Report
Guitarist John Laux, of the Los Angeles thrash metal band Warbringer, has issued the following tour recap:
"We’re finally home for the Holidays after what may of been one of the most wild tours yet!'
"To kick things off we headed east, playing headline shows along the way, at the end of October to meet up with Vader’s Monsters of Death tour and ended up making very good friends with everyone on the tour. Vader, Augury, The Amenta, Swashbuckle and Decrepit Birth are all killer bands! The shows from ..Baltimore.. to ....New York.... were a breeze, and then we had some border trouble as many of our Canadian fans already know. An old DUI showed up for our drummer, so Nic was flagged and prevented from entering the country and had to stay behind. The same happened when we tried to enter ..Canada.. again after the ....Minnesota.... show. Regardless we played all the gigs with Adam, our guitar player, and Vader stage manger Dave Lozano switching off on the drum throne. It was pretty rough at first but after a few days Adam and Dave were killing it. Nic wound up staying with John Gensmer from Epicurean and flying out to ....Seattle.... to rejoin the tour a week later."
"Thanksgiving rolled by and we were lucky enough to have a day off right between ..San Francisco.. and ..San Diego.. so we were able to be home for the ..Holiday... It’s worth mentioning that our Cotton Technician Kenny brought The Amenta and Augury over to his Grandma’s house to have their first Thanksgiving dinner."
"The next day we had a call from Adam’s dad, we all knew he had lost his voice, but apparently he had a bad case of strep throat, further complicated when the hospital gave him the wrong medicine and he had a reaction making it tough for him to breathe. In typical Warbringer fashion we kept the machine rolling and played the next 4 gigs with one guitar player until we flew Adam out to ....Salt Lake City.... two days before the Megadeth tour started. Our last gig on the Monsters of Death tour was a sight to see when Vog from Decapitated, and everyone else from the tour rocked out on air guitar during “Combat Shock”. Overall the Monsters of Death tour was a fucking blast! Great dudes, lots of drinks, and a lot of brutal music!"
"Our next dates were a dream come true! We picked up the Megadeth tour in ....Kansas City.., ..MO.... and the shows were a blast. It was a pleasure to play for such large crowds that were all about thrash metal. I think some of these shows may have been some of the best performances and best sounding shows we have done yet; thank to Dan from Suicide Silence for doing our sound. We have known Suicide Silence since the ..Nile.. tour we did in early 2008 and it was a blast partying with them again. The weather however was fucking horrible. The storms and snow followed us all the way until the last gig in ....Las Vegas..... Megadeth was a very stressful tour, the drives were long and the weather was rough but it was an incredible opportunity for us. Thanks to Dave Mustaine, the other Megadeth guys, crew and their manager and agent for the opportunity! We had a chance to be the direct support band for Megadeth on the last 2 gigs, which was really cool. We were very proud to be a part of that tour, and we hope to do more tours of that size again next yet."
"It’s been a great year for Warbringer. After exiting the studio in January working with Gary Holt producing our second album, we played 100 shows with Soilwork, Darkane, Swallow the Sun and then Kreator, Exodus, Belphegor and Epicurean to set up Waking Into Nightmare’s release May 19. Thank you to everyone who got in on the special pre-sale and bought it on street week as we debuted with over 2,000 domestic SoundScan sales our first week. We then spent the summer in Europe playing all sorts of crazy festivals and doing off-date shows with bands like Hatebreed, Napalm Death and Sacred Reich before doing a week of dates with Testament in the ....UK..... In the fall we toured the ....US.... a couple times more with Obituary, Goatwhore, Krisiun and The Berzerker and then the above with Vader and Megadeth. We’re looking forward to next year as we’re headed back to Europe in January with Evile and will be back in the ..US.. in April with Overkill and then off to ....Japan.... in May with Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust. We plan on touring Waking Into Nightmares into the fall of 2010."
