Ex-Megadeth Guitarist Jeff Young Challenges Dave Mustaine

Band Photo: Megadeth (?)
Jeff Young, the former guitarist for Megadeth, has posted another blog which is highly critical of his former bandmate Dave Mustaine. His latest blog reads as follows:
"Hello again Mega fans,
"Firstly, I want to thank everyone for their overwhelming support regarding my Blog post of 10.18.09. I didn't expect that and it means a lot.
"I honestly didn't think I would be writing again so soon but in the wake of all the online chatter flailing about, some new info has come to light and there is absolutely no way I'm not responding to this...
"This recent information was forwarded to my personal assistant by a concerned & disgruntled MEGADETH fan:
"In an October 2009 interview regarding MEGADETH's new CD, Shitstaine is at it again with his usual trademark spew of lies. Falsely claiming credit for singing me the solos that I wrote or improvised on the spot is one thing but his latest stunt is the last & final straw. Over the years I've sought to take the high road, tried to have a little class. But peace sells and who's buying, right? Now, my vow of silence and days protecting all Shitstaine's dirty little secrets are over.
"Shitstaine's October 2009 Endgame Interview:
"Better late than never, no doubt Australian fans are pumped to see an updated version of the Clash Of The Titans tour finally making its way down here.
“Well, I’ve always respected the audience down there. It was unfortunate when we had to cancel before but that wasn’t my doing. That was the other band members. Y’know, Jeff Young had a little heroin problem and he ran out. So, he didn’t want to go down there. Now, any time that I ran out of anything, I either found more or I just kinda roughed it!”
"Really Dave, you lying piece of shit!!?? You've always respected the audience? Is that why every single night you had to be carried off stage cause you were too fucked up to stand - let alone play or sing. Were you really too fucked up to realize that Jr., Chuck and I had a deal with the sound man to bury your guitars and vocal in the mix?
"Do you consider it respectful when a fan asks you for a guitar pick, that you pick your stinking nose and flick it at them with a, "There's your pick" response? Sid Vicious really had nothing on you - your fans truly ARE the lucky ones!
"So, we canceled the Australian tour because I ran out of heroin!? Let's get the REAL truth out there buddy. We canceled the Australia tour for one reason: So you could get back to L.A. quick-like and into one of how many failed attempts at rehab? Then, while you are in rehab, you try to get me and the other members to smuggle heroin into the rehab in a Coke can!? WTF?
"In your futile attempt to pin your crap on an innocent party - let alone a cancer survivor that is seeking to live a stress-free lifestyle, you've shown yourself to be the most pathetic piece of human waste imaginable.
"The few little bits I've shared to date are just tip of the iceberg - the measly stuff. If the fool wants to keep going, I now sit at the ready to respond in like to his banal verbal attacks. But the forthcoming details left to be shared won't be so pretty.
"Of course, there is another option. You wanna act like children? We can act like children. You think you're so fucking great? God's gift to guitar virtuosity? How 'bout this: I barely play electric guitar anymore but I hereby challenge you to a duel, Sir: Any stage, anywhere in the world, any 2 MEGADETH tunes from the PSBWB or SFSGSW era. Let's see what's what brother. I'll play my solos, Chris' solos AND your solos note-for-note and you have to do the same. Since you sang all of our solos to us, that should be an easy task for you, right?
"Are you ready to shut up and put your skills where your big fat overrated mouth is? One condition: You can't get anyone to help you figure out Chris or my solos - you have to do it by ear, just as I did/will. Finally, there will be no hiding behind other people's talent for you. Maybe, Eddie Trunk will even let us do it on That Metal Show so everyone can see what's real? Eddie, call me! ;)"

^ yes, he did expect it. My bullsh** detector just buzzed.
C'mon, he's got a new release out soon and he's having a go at dave to raise his popularity. His only claim to fame is a few years in megadeth, and he's milking it. I cann;t find it in myself to take this guy seriously ...

something is not right here. Why is he saying this stuff now? It seems like it could be true since dave mustaine was not the model citizen back then, but I honestly think that he changed within this decade. Albeit, he has a pretty big mouth and really is incredibly full of himself. Either way, I would love for this showdown to happen.

And Mustaine isn't a leech I suppose?
It's bad enough to release some of the most ridiculously trendy material with absolutely ZERO relevance to your own musical legacy, only to squeeze the last few bucks out of your swiftly dying brand. But when you start namedropping proverbial has-beens like Metallica, as if that's somehow a failsafe ticket into the hearts of metalheads everywhere, you're just making yourself look like a total moron.
Then again, no one ever really doubted that about Mustaine. Fast fingers, massively slow brain. He doesn't even recall what he says in his own interviews.
You can always get a good laugh from these two pansies having a good little b****slap with eachother however. "I'm a cancer survivor!". "I'm a smack addict on a Jesus binge!" - Cry me a motherf***ing river, ladies.
Just pull the buttplug out and let's get back to the business of devastating some ears. You know, METAL and what not. Remember that? Probably not. Forced retirement is a b****.

OK, I respect Young and what he's saying is probably true, but who really gives a crap? I mean, it's not about how Dave's a big egotistical towrag; we already know that. just play some fricking metal that doesn't suck!! We could sit here and talk about all the lies every band has told, but that would take the entire storage capacity in existance, so I'd rather just not care.... At all. Jeff is simply responding (in anger) to comments Dave has made in regards to him. It's no secret that the early years of Megadeth were surrounded by massive drug and alcohol abuse. Drugs have a way of providing truth as one sees fit to, well, see it.
Dave may have been a maniac (no secrets there) and a huge drug addict, but Jeff was no saint - he was right in there getting f***ed up and f***ing up. It's in the past.
Today, Dave (and apparently Jeff) is clean and sober. Sure, Dave is still yapping off, but the guy is still flying the thrash metal flag proudly.

Do it for the hell of it. There's so many pricks out there that need a foot in the mouth. Dave is and always be a failure. I never bought any of his lame a$$ cd's and never will. Megadeth is so lame. I used to rag on my drummer for practising to that crap. There are so many more talented musicians out there. Let's spend our ears on that. Goodbye Karate man!

Who is jeff young??? he was the worst guitar player ever in megadeth. broderick, polland, friedman, drover and petrilli were all better lead guitar players and mustaine is a much better all around guitar player. if not for being in megadeth, nobody would even know who jeff young was and on teh so far, so good , so what album, the best guitar was the rythem in "in my darkest hour" and "set the world afire" his sloppy a$$ leads left a lot to be desired.

I think we now have our reason.
Sure, Dave might not have been the nicest person back in teh day, but neitehr was Jeff by teh sounds of thigns, and they both need to move on - oh, no, wait, they don't Jeff needs to reminds everyone he was lead guitarist in SFSGSW as he has new material out.

I'm very disappointed that Jeff chose to go this route. I couldn't believe he went "So Far" - no pun intended. I would just like to set the record straight. Seeing as I was the drummer in the line up at the time, I was present in the studio, as well as other places - I'll tell you, things never really seemed that bad. As far as Dave humming solos to Jeff, that was sometimes the case. Not to demean Jeff as a guitar player by any means, but mainly because he was called into the project at the last minute. In fact, he would share a lot of ideas with us during recording - not in a way to take control, but just some constructive criticism. Obviously, Dave thought Jeff was a great guitar player or he wouldn't have been hired to begin with.
I guess I'm just blown away that Jeff feels the need to bring up all this up now, after 25 years. After all, isn't the music the important thing? Whether people love us, or hate us, we did what we did because we love playing the music. And I really don't think people are too interested in hearing about the petty little things that happened between us back then.
I don't know, these are my thoughts on this whole situation. I hope Jeff can find a better way to get past this.
Signed,
Chuck Behler
Former Megadeth Drummer

Mr. Behler (if that really is you -- not that I don't believe you, but the internet makes it easy to pretend): Big fan of your drumming here, and thank you for clearing things up about Dave humming solos and things like that. I don't know Jeff Young personally, but it does seem like a plea for attention at this point, especially waiting 25 years to bring it up.

I agree with Greyback.
Id Pay too see Dave Kick Jeff Young's ass.
All this speculation....who cares?
OK;I will admit Jeff young is an exceptional guitarist but too challenge The great Dave Mustaine.....he must be mad!?
Made me laugh too be honest.dosent surprise me at all. I don't think hes lying? because we cant call Jeff a lair because we went there.but cmon that's the Dave we love....right?
i wouldn't want him any other way.
Man....Dave Played the best when hes smashed on H in my opinion.

I honestly believe Jeff. I also believe that Mustaine might have payed chuck off to say that. I mean Ellefson has a gag order right so he cannot talk. Why do you think he went on Westlake in the Pig the week after Jeff Young did? Even though he could not talk about dave mustaine he can make subtle gestures to support Jeff in solidarity.

Dear jeff young,
Dave Mustaine is a prick....well known fact in the metal community, but if it wasn't for that prick no one would know your name, notice how every blog you post it always says "EX-MEGADETH GUITARIST". I'd have to say your jealous cause as much of a d*** he is, he made it and people love him and his music. s go suck a c**k and shut the hell up
