We, The Undersigned Checks In From Their Canadian Tour
We, The Undersigned have issued the following road report from their Canadian "Off With Their Heads" tour:
"November 10th – Kilroy’s – Thunder Bay, ON. Ding Ding Ding! Tonight round 2 in Thunder Bay is going down literally 2 blocks down from Black Pirate’s Pub at Kilroy’s. Playing a Monday and Tuesday back-to-back is always risky but the rockers in T-Bay LOVE their live music so we had a decent handful out. The line-up tonight was the same as last night as from local openers which names escape me. We were also graced with the singer from Faceless Hulk, Ted, doing a 30 minute set of hip-hop songs. Strangely I was reminded of Eminem mixed with some Immortal Technique. Also, he took a nap during the set . I believe this was the manifestation of an inside joke involving Ted once missing his own set at an Edmonton bar because he fell asleep.
"Faceless Hulk kicks ass, if they come east spend the 7 or 8 dollars and go see them. Also, it was great to play with Endast again as they wrap up their west coast tour. These Jagr swigging hard rockers are a force to be reckoned with, look out Canada. Big James wants to pwn you!!!
"November 12th – North Hill Inn – Brandon, MB. Playing hotel bars has it’s own charm. For one thing, they’re always huge. This one is certainly size-able. Some Winnipeg rockers, Tyrants Demise, were opening up the show. I love when the 1st band immediately sets the bar high for the show. Makes me want to pull up my belt and get down to business. Good work boys. Despite the fact that our last show here was a crazy shit-show with 100+ people, we only had a small handful out tonight. The Brandonians weren’t in the mood for some NB melodic tech rock or some BC ska hardcore. Silly fools! Our buddy Sean who put on the show gave us a place to stay, thanks for the hospitality dood!
"The prairies are the land of the Big Sky! It’s like being swallowed by space and your only friend is a road-side cow feasting on the hay. The traffic lights will go from red to green 4 times before you actually reach the intersection. MB, your flatness is fascinating to us east coasters.
"November 13th –Gaslight Saloon – Regina, SK. The excitement of playing a city for the 1st time is a warm and fuzzy feeling I’ve grown to enjoy. Tonight it’s a biker bar in the capital of SK, Gaslight Saloon, where only the Harley’s have access to parking. I couldn’t wait to get my tube’s cookin’ and bludgeon the Skatchers with our hybrid rock-metal riff salad. Any bar with a Terminator 2 poster knows 'the score' in the my books. Well done Gaslight. As we move west I notice the crowds becoming more and more fanatical about our friends from the west, Ninjaspy. Wherever these blood brothers play their songs, the mark is left. This trend is only going to continue until the entire world is throwing 'the skank' (negative energy) down every single day of their beautiful lives and circle pits fueled by the love of music and respect for our fellow man, are just another day in the office.
"The local headliners, Suffersurge, closed off the night with some solid bad-to-the-bone tunes. As per the usual, if you like to have a taste of the music we come across, the myspace links are below. Tomorrow we head North to Saskatoon where we share a bill with local zany-rockers, Sparky. We met and stayed with these guys on the last tour so it’ll be nice to finally share a show. And now we drive into the land of the Beef. Vegetarian’s, hide your identity!
"November 14th – McGuire’s Pub – Saskatoon, SK. As we move west, the pub’s get nicer and the food gets tastier. McGuire’s being an Irish Pub, we had to entertain the eats and home-brewed beer they had to offer. I had some sort of Strawberry pale ale and it was delicious. Eating nothing but PB+J sandwiches and trail mix induces incredible grease cravings, and so tonight I ordered the biggest plate of onion rings and fries I’ve ever seen. It filled the void but my digestive process was pretty unhappy about the whole thing. Details shan't be required...
"NEWSFLASH!!! Sparky has to be one of the best and most original bands we’ve seen in a while! If you like Mike Patton’s madness mixed some frantic metal and sex-tinged melodies, click the link below! Seriously some of the nicest guys we’ve met in quite a while too. Similarly to last time, they invited us to their farmhouse on the outskirts of Sask and took care of us like we were brothers, and that means the world to us, thanks boys. Too much wine and beer leads to only one thing: Barfin’ Larva at Sparky’s Farm!!! (this phrase must be said with the accent of an east coast Canadian for it’s true meaning to shine through, try it!)
"We caught two amazing bands for the 1st time tonight, Sparky, and the opening band Suffer The Children. Again, the 1st band of the night immediately sets the bar high and forces everyone else to step up to the plate and hit a homer. I love it.
"November 15th – The Taproom Pub – St. Albert, AB. Our only stop in beef country this time around is 15 minutes north of Edmonton, St. Albert. These pub style bars are super fun to play. The Taproom is no exception, it’s huge and they have a kitchen full of all wonderful goodies. They gave us pizza and beer so automatically we’re happy. Also, my two older brothers Troy and Keith made to the show, their support is freakin’ amazing, as is the support I receive from my whole family (thanks Mom!).
"Let’s keep the trend going with awesome opening bands, tonight the ice-breaker was Suburban Syndrome from Edmonton. The moment the house music stopped and these guys ripped into their 1st chord, a rock show had begun. Good work boys. The enthusiasm of the Ninjaspy fans continues to grow as we move west, it’s pretty inspiring. We’re not sure what they think of our hybrid rock songs but the response has been pretty good so far. There’s a certain joy that comes from playing shows/tours with bands of a different flavor. Every night somebody’s mind gets opened at least a little bit. Which of course means.... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
"We weren’t able to lock down a place to stay on this night and so we grew some ballz and decided to try driving all the way to Kelowna for a show tomorrow. Tune in tomorrow to see if we make it through the mountains with all our limbs intact!"
