Avenged Sevenfold has issued the following update about recording their new album:
"It has been awhile since we have shed light on our current doings. Well here is a long awaited update into the world of A7X. We came off of the road amidst one of the most turbulent times in history. Everything going on around us was overwhelming, frightening, frustrating and confusing. I must confess that it was also very exciting to me. I’m sure you can share my sentiment. We have been focused on only one thing, writing and preparing to record what to me is our most personal and epic Avenged Sevenfold album. The reason is the fact that everything happening around us in the entire world might be a once in a life time source of inspiration and direction.
"We have been harnessing every aspect of what makes A7X truly unrelenting and building off of that. I don’t think we sleep too much anymore because of the excitement we feel while writing this album. Only a world spinning out of control could inspire the music and vision we have now. Once again it is fucking exciting. We will continue finalizing our songs until we feel every note does both You as well as Us justice. We are also in the final stages of solidifying our production team, studios and engineers so that the second the axe falls and the album is written we will spend day and night in the studio until it is complete. This album will definitely take you on a very dark journey..."

i'm not a fan of their dressing up. But they make incredible music, so what if they make Metal look gay. It comes down to the music and to me, they pass with flying colors.
What isn't there to love?
Duelling guitars
Sweet guitar solos and licks
Insane drumming
Great vocals, a mix between screaming, singing and growling. And they use back up vocals which sound magnificent live.
They're best lyrical content has to be from City Of Evil.
And they're the only Heavy Metal band brave enough try something new; Their Self Titled was interesting, and i liked every song, including the country song "Dear God"
They also kept their Metal roots with "Afterlife" which is just pure musical genius.
I don't understand why people are hating on them so much just because clothes.
They're great musicians and i have a world of respect for them because they're not afraid of anything.

Go and check out Celtic Frost. There's a band that tried something new on every album, yet kept a signature sound. Even their Cold Lake album is better than anything A7X has done. You can love this band all you want, you have the freedom and right to, we're not trying to stop you. But nothing this band has ever done is "genius" nor does it come close to it. I've read some of their lyrics and they're of an exceptionally poor standard. The singing is terrible too. I've also seen these guys live and I watched them with an open mind, but they were awful. Sorry fella.

For those of you who listen to has been bands like Lamb of God and stuff..dude they are has-beens. Metallica is still THE best record selling AND concert selling band in the Metal scene. Avenged Sevenfold has transended metal to a new and fresh level. YES they are catagorized as metal. It use to be metalcore for their first two albums but Shadows the lead vocalist didn't want to scream much anymore, but I do like the fact he combines scream, growl, and awesome singing vocals all together. Its very good stuff. I still think they best lyrical album is City Of Evil, but the self-titled album is effin great especially the songs Critical Acclaim and A Little Piece Of Heaven which I personally think is THE most controversal song in the metal and rock scene. If you talk so much crap about this group then you are not a true fan of Metal or Hard Rock. I'm not saying you should be but listen to all their albums especially A7X's first album "Sounding The Seventh Trumpet" it beats Slipknot's Iwoa album and I'm also a Slipknot fan hahaha. Avenged Sevenfold is a awesome band and their up and coming album in 2010 is gonna be great.

The only "dark" song lyrically i think a7x has written is a little piece of heaven, which doesnt say much at all.. this album will be the same as the last 2

Start with Sabbath then Slayer, Metallica (first album Kill Em' All then work ur way up to the newest album Death Magnetic) also Motorhead, Rollins Band, Ironmaiden, Judas Priest, Motely Crue, Slipknot etc etc. The older bands paved the way for newer bands like Linkin Park, Heaven and Hell, Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, A7X to be as successful as they were back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. But out of the older bands Metallica still brings Heavy Metal to its roots and is the most copied band out their. And to the a** clown who said A Little Piece Of Heaven is not controversal. Hmm let's see the song is talking about killing his gf and the raping her because he was crazy. That why the last little bit of the verse say I never felt anything so good and so f***in deep. Then his gf soul comes back and kills him and so on and so on. They couldn't do a video for it b/c of its subject so they did an animated video for the internet.

Wow, Seventh Trumpet sounds scary. It would be original if bands as varied as King Diamond and Suffocation hadn't already done that subject along time before Avenged Sevenfold. "Marital Decimation" by Suffocation for example, is about a guy who comes home drunk and brutally murders his wife, before eating her organs. Better song too. Heaven and Hell is made up of the founding members of Black Sabbath with RJ Dio singing.!
This same line-up recorded several albums from the early 80s and into early 90s that were released under the Black Sabbath name.!
Instead of spouting off about something you obviously know nothing about... perhaps you should finish Jr High school and hope that someday you will learn something about metal that doesnt come from MTV or VH1.!

Nothing: I believe you've missed the point. Bon Jovi is also considered metal, but I dare say you wouldn't call his material metal. Just because the rest of society puts a metal label on a bun and serves it to us doesn't mean real metal heads have to swallow it. Will you find A7X in the metal section at the local record store? Sure, but you'll also find a lot of other things that obviously don't belong there either. A Boca burger is called a burger, but there isn't any hamburger in it either.

If this bands next album can show something better than what they've done then ok, if not... well, we'll still be in this same position, dealing with narrow minded people that would rather stay in there comfort zones.

Angus Young of ACDC started out being a blues guitarist, as did his younger brother Malcolm following in his footsteps.

judas Priest is borderline power metal, and sometimes approach thrash(see Painkiller album), but mainly classified as NWOBHM.
