Alice In Chains Charts At No. 5 On Billboard Top 200 with "Black Gives Way To Blue"
Fueled by hit single "Check My Brain," currently No. 1 on both the Billboard Top Rock Songs and Alternative Charts, new ALICE IN CHAINS album "Black Gives Way To Blue" (Virgin/EMI) entered Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart at No. 5 with sales exceeding 126,000 copies.
The debut comes amidst a flurry of activity surrounding the band, including heavy radio and video airplay (the "Check My Brain" video is currently featured on MTV2’s Elite 8), a sold-out U.S. buzz tour, and back-to-back performances on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last Tuesday and Wednesday.
Next up is an October 30th performance on NBC’s "The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien," followed by a trio of headlining radio dates in Texas, and then a headlining tour of Europe, set to kick off November 12th in Glasgow.

At least they scored higher than Madonna, who peaked at #7 and that douchebag Jay-Z. With Pearl Jam scoring a #1 album after 13 years, it was only fitting that AIC would get a similar chart peak after 14 years instead of that ugly c*** Streisand! Guess it'll come for the next album.

This is an excellent album! It certainly deserved to sell more copies than it did. I think the internet leak may have had something to do with the lower sales. 126,000 copies is still pretty damn awesome in this day in age! I heard the album myself before it came out and was blown away. I was also a first day buyer as I feel it is imperative for people to support quality bands so those bands can continue to create sensational music! This is by far the best album I have heard in the 21st century. The lyrics are honest, deep, and based on real life experience. Go pick this album up, you won't be dissapointed!

The album is BEYOND amazing! I've had it on repeat since release day! And I totally agree, it should've been #1, but let's face it, good music never gets the appreciation it deserves. Mainstream will always go for the music that caters to whatever trend is happening at that moment. Unfortunately, that's usually over-produced pop sh** that only a 5 yr old can can identify with.

Album has more good tracks than bad. I absolutely have not been able to stop listening to it. A new AIC album, even without Lane, is a freaking miracle to me. I have always thought Alice In Chains was one of the top U.S. bands out there and this album shows how good the band is still today. AIC has a Led Zepplin quality about them which is hard to pinpoint but that is just the way I feel about them. Is the album worth buying, yes, I bought it first day and have already gifted the album to one of my old time best friends who used to be in a band with me. So happy AIC is back... long road back from obscurity...
