Shadows Fall Streaming New Song "King Of Nothing" Online
Shadows Fall has issued the following announcement about streaming a new song from their upcoming album "Retribution" online:
"Get you first taste of Retribution today exclusively on the Shadows Fall official MySpace page. The first song to be made available from the album, 'King of Nothing,' is available NOW here. The song features a brutal guest appearance by Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe.
"This song opens with my favorite riff on the record. It came out of Matt’s late night drunken riff bag, and the song built itself around the heavy vibe that it created. It is a four minute beat down!! The lyrics of this song are about the overwhelming self-medication of our world. There is a prescription for every mood these days, and people are turning into zombies. It's time to toughen up and face your reality, no matter how brutal it may be, otherwise you will just be reigning over a world of nothingness. The bridge features guest vocals from the one and only D. Randall Blythe aka Uncle Goddamn aka The Redneck Assassin of the mighty Lamb of God. Randy came down to the studio in VA to cook us dinner, and we put him right to work behind the mic. We layered his voice with Matt’s and myself to create the three part harmony from hell!!"

AWESOME!! I've been waiting to hear something new from Shads for a while now. A little slower and groovier than they're usually Thrash songs, still totally i dug it. I love that Randy's part is the "Quit Your f***ing Crying!" from the back of Shads "Eating Emo Kids For Breakfast" T-shirt that i own, and the chorus is f***ing SICK! Can't wait for this Album!

Is it just me, or does randy blythe have to guest appear on every f***ing metal album ever? It's getting stifling, not being able to buy a cd without reading his name somewhere. I shouldnt complain though, because in general, the songs end up being pretty badass. I say in general, because I know a few songs he's done that are on the low end of horrible....This however, was pretty decent, as far as randy appearances go...
I like the song. Then again, i also liked the opening track to Threads, and the rest of the album was a big letdown. i still liked the album mind you, but not for more than one or two spins a month; it just didnt click the way the previous albums by shadows fall had.
In short, I'm really hoping for the guys to come through with another good album, and this is nice peek to keep me waiting with renewed hope for it.

I sound like a neanderthal-fan but I want evidence of something blazingly fast and something crushingly heavy. Guess they have to string us along...wish Randy had been a bit more present.
Mid-tempo is fine but too much will be the "Threads" + ...Wish they would release an audio medlely preview like Porcupine Tree...

post 9: thats not neanderthal at all...its reasonable and should be very much expected, when you go and name an album "redemption" thats a goddamn bold statement that says they knew something just wasnt right about threads of life and anything but a redemption may push away even more fans.
13. writes:
^actually, it's called, "Retribution", not Redemption. More of a vengeance meaning to that word than a forgiveness.
Porcupine Tree just might have hit on a new great idea. Instead of releasing whole tracks to preview an album, release snippets of every song in one huge grouping. You cant really judge an album from one song after all. Imagine hearing only the song "Fade to Black" before metallica released Ride the Lightning... Wouldnt you be a bit off-put?

LOL
10 points for the RTL/"Fade to Black" notion...One would never guess "Call of Ktulu" and "Fight Fire with Fire" could share an album with "FTB", but there it is...one of metals most perfect albums.
I'd love to hear a preview-collage of the new Behemoth and Slayer while we're on the subject.
Now Playing: BrainDrill - "Swine Slaughter"

^ I honestly wasn't THAT impressed by the new behemoth. It has some great bits throughout, but nothing different from Apostasy (That being said, they had a great thing going with "The Apostasy" but I expected something a little more, especially with the sick gear they had)

Behemoth is band that I think is justified in riding a sound from album to album. Zoa Kia Kultus was hardly different to thelema in sound or utter musicianship, but both still excellent, while Demigod was an unexpected surpassment of both those albums. The Apostasy was another ambitious leap forward, though it seems to have been taken a little less well than Demigod had been, at least by people other than me...I personally thought Apostasy was brilliant.
If this next album sounds little different than the last, then that's fine with me...it just means I have a whole new album's worth of songs to tide me over till their next superb venture.
And personally RM?, I've been aching to hear any snippets, anything at all, from the next slayer album...there are only so many times I can listen to Psychopathy Red in giddy anticipation.
Now Playing: Himsa- the Destroyer

I dunno about thrash so much as pop-mindedness.
As far as "Retribution", I do like the overlapping vocals but Blythe should have gotten a passage of his own...
So they wouldn't be able to replicate his part perfectly live--f*** it, Opeth don't have Steven Wilson when they perform "Bleak" and it sounds excellent live.

wow this whole time i thought it was redemption my bad..oops... its what they should do though... imo ....redemtion retribution same thing.....phooey!!! again my bad....and yea i would love to hear samples of the whole album that woud be nice as well as slayer....
