Killswitch Engage’s fourth album, titled "Killswitch Engage," debuted at #7 on this week’s Billboard Top 200, shifting over 58,000 copies. It is the highest charting album of the band’s career. Killswitch Engage also debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Music chart. The album, which is the band’s fourth effort for Roadrunner, was produced by noted knobsman Brendan O’Brien (AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine) and co-produced by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz.
The band is also celebrating another huge accomplishment hot on the heels of their new album release - "As Daylight Dies," their third album (released in November 2006), has just achieved Gold certification. That album featured the Massachusetts band’s highest charting radio singles to date, including “My Curse” and the fan favorite, a cover version of Dio’s “Holy Diver.”
"As Daylight Dies" is KsE’s second Gold release, as 2004’s "The End of Heartache" has also achieved Gold-selling status. The band’s DVD "(Set This) World Ablaze" is also certified Gold. With sales totaling nearly 80,000, the DVD is nearing Platinum status.
Killswitch Engage is spending the summer as a main stage attraction on the second annual Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest, alongside the likes of Marilyn Manson and Slayer.

Killswitch Engage isn't an Emo band.
I don't enjoy Killswitch Engage as much as The End of Heartache or As Daylight Dies. The only song I really enjoy off the album is Reckoning. It's one of those albums I'm gonna have to listen to about a hundred times until I finally get into it.
It's getting good ratings.

i personally love them and i have ever since the first singer, jesse leach. i'll admit, that, instrumentally, they KINDA have "watered downed" BUT the transitions with the acoustic guitars and soft melodies with the ALMOST "chugga chugga" sound and howard jones' screaming is just amazing. another thing, it's tru that they are, in fact, a bit "emo", 'cause their lyrically content, even with the first singer too, is MOSTLY about a break up, loosing someone close to you and what not, but then again, every band as a "theme" to their lyrics, either it be politics, teenage angst, hate or even love; it's just the singers feelings that are being let out and all we can do is either relate to it or not; that's it.

Haha, funny how they're first single and video from the album ripped all it's riffs from Bullet for my Valentine. Rest of the album is better than i thought it would be though, i love Howards Voice but he really needs to stop with the lyrics for 16 year old kids in tight pants, emo has no place in real metal.

Midnight Cowboy- Rite on, thank you bro. It sounds like you and I have about the same opinion about the band- good musicians but pretty cheesy material (and not in a cool way like 3 Inches of Blood). It makes no difference to me, never really been a fan of labels I just listen to whatever I like, but it is amazing how many fans of the band will scream until they are blue in the face that KE is not emo without knowing the band is completely open with their "emo-ness". They are not in the emo closet, LOL!

Hell yeah, Bruno! Alot of people just listen to a few songs and don't get to know the artist that they're listening to. Makes them look pretty silly when they try to argue a point that is completely false. Metal-Nerds like you and I are a Dime-a-Dozen, Brother!

some people like to hate metalcore, but I've found room for it over the years in my metal tastes. Not a fan of Killswitch much, every now and then a song that catches my ear, but overall, not my thing.
Metalcore bands that I DO validate as fun to listen to include Brother von doom, Chimaira, Himsa, Within the Ruins, and the Agonist. I would also like to point out that I would totally dip my ladle in the puss-puss soup of the singer for the Agonist. To quote Lil'wayne " She can ride my d*** with no shocks"
Now Playing: Blindgreed- Blindgreed ( I really like this song alot btw dude^)

FAN: Thank you sir. It's been with me longer than the actual band has. I wrote it when I was in a project called Tower 8. Ironically the "flames arize, ashes fall, crashing the market" line has been likened to the 9/11 attacks but the line was written long before that.

^ya i really have to get around to checking out the songs you sent me, but I havent had the space on my computer to hold it. I did add some songs off your guys myspace to one of my myspace playlists though, and that's what I was listening to. It's a nice and weird transition to go from Behold...the Arctopus to, "His skin was all hangin off, his skin was all hangin off..." lol
Now playing: Man Must Die- Kill It Skin It Wear

When I toke music classes and studied all the different kind of music around the world, I remember reading about the history of music. Emo is a subgenre of Rock music. How Emo got involved with Metal, I have no idea.
Despite what it said in Metal Hammer, which I dug out and read, I refuse to think The End of Heartache as being an Emo album.

These guys were one of the few "conventional" (I file Dillinger and Converge under "other" or "misc.") metalcore bands I could stand.
The first two records with Jesse Leach were great and the first one with Jones was quite good but I heard the single for the next album and had heard enough. The bands lyrics, never a strong suit for me anyway, started to sour on me.
All that said, I'm happy for them. 201% earned.
Now Playing: Opeth - "Blackwater Park"

The most notible difference between the 2 albums is the drums. simon was not part of the band when the 1st album was made. otherwise i still like Once only imagined, i just prefer the new album personally. they sound great together on my ipod when i just put the songs on random.

29. writes:
I classify a band as being emo primarily from what the lyrics are... And going by that KSE is definitly an emo band, one of the better ones i might add because of the metal influence, but still definitly emo... Saying KSE isn't emo is the same as saying Bullet for my valentine isn't either
'The End of Heartache" is the name of that album for a reason, lol

That One Guy and KK:
The first album is decent if you like metalcore. the second album is great if you listen to metalcore, and really good if you like Prog.
the songs off the first Agonist album all start to sound the same after a few songs. they're good, but all the same, you get sick of it. Mainly because of the clean singing/screaming switchoff that's used in EVERY song in the same EXACT places in the songs. In My opinion, that's what drags down alot of metalcore, including bands like KSE, God Forbid, and AILD. but something made me want to follow this abnd. the overall sound of them just held my attention for some reaosn.
then the second album came out. WOW. Besides the vastly different song constructions, interesting riffage and drum patterns, Her Vocals and her usage of them went forward 100 percent. She does death metal growls, deathcore grumbling, black metal screeches, metalcore screaming, and her clean singing has been expanded tenfold in it's vocalization and placement in the songs. The second is FAAAR better of an album. However, that doesnt mean the first album isnt worth a spin; it's still quite good overall.
KK specifically: How the hell could a woman ever convince ME not to f*** her lol? Unless she has herpes or AIDS, I'm game lol. And the lyrics I've read have been quite well-thought out, sO I know she's smart, which means on top of the hotness and the metal growling, she's a keeper lol.

Gave the new album about a half dozen listens. I am a huge fan but tend to agree with the majority. This album is way too slow. I kinda saw this happening when 2 versions of My Curse were released to be more radio friendly. It's a shame but maybe they will bounce back.

Not sure about this album, but good for Killswitch, they're one of few metalcore bands I respect vastly. Still ot sure why they releassed a second self-titled album though. =/
Dream Theater also managed to get #7 with BC&SL ... metal getting more mainstream, anyone? But with metalcore taking the place of glam metal?
