Shadows Fall Reveals New Album, "Retribution," Tracklisting and More
SHADOWS FALL has announced "Retribution" as the title of their fifth full-length album, which is set for a September 15 street date. The album, a follow-up to 2007’s critically acclaimed "Threads of Life," will be released on the band’s own label, Everblack Industries, which was created in conjunction with Warner Music Group’s ILG, Ferret Music, and ChannelZERO Entertainment. For more information on Everblack Industries, visit everblackindustries.com. The new album was produced by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Municipal Waste), with vocal production by Elvis Baskette (Incubus, Alter Bridge).
Singer Brian Fair commented on the band’s venture: “We learned everything from the ground up. We’ve gone through the independent metal world to the major label world, and have come to realize that, given the way things are now, it’s all about the band re-taking control of everything: music, business, ownership, publishing. Everything.”
Fans can now sign up for the SHADOWS FALL mailing list and street team at Reverbnation, where exclusive downloads are now available for all members.
The band called on design company Sons of Nero (Unearth, Every Time I Die, Bring Me The Horizon) for the cover art for "Retribution."
The complete tracklisting for "Retribution" follows:
1. The Path to Imminent Ruin
2. My Demise
3. Still I Rise
4. War
5. King Of Nothing
6. The Taste Of Fear
7. Embrace Annihilation
8. Picture Perfect
9. A Public Execution
10. Dead And Gone
“With each album we’ve gotten a little more confidence to really let all of our influences show,” Fair added. “We’re unapologetic about the old-school metal and the 80s influence, as well as the thrash and the melodic death metal. There’s really no holding back when it comes to our songwriting. Once the floodgates open, we go all the way.”
Upcoming SHADOWS FALL show dates:
6/25/09 - Anchorage, AK - Chilkkoot Charlies
6/26/09 - Anchorage, AK - Club Millennium
7/03/09 – Atlantic City, NJ – House of Blues - w/ Clutch

Another band that I enjoy. Got into these guys when they were stilll touring off "The Art of Balance" and have seen them on every subsequent tour. Hopefully the new one is reminiscent of that album, for in my opinion they have since not been able to top that release.

The thing with Threads of Life was the record company, not the band themselves. When you sign on to a major record deal, said record company has a great hand in how your music comes out under them. SHADS had to basically de-thrash most the riffs and tell jason to slow down for most the tracks for the label to even put the record out. At least thats how they described it last time i met them in Atlantic City last summer. But that's all in the past and now they own they're own record label, so nobody will be holding them back for this album! Can't wait for this album, can't wait to see them in Atlantic City July 3rd!!!

I Agree with my Viking friend above on post 7. The opening and closing tracks of Threads of Life, "Redemption" and "Forevermore", were the only songs that really kept the classic SHADS thrash/swagger, they had the one ballad single in the middle of the album, which was good for a ballad, while most of the middle of the CD was filler for the record company. Slower tempos and much less going on in the music than "Art of Balance" and "War Within". I truly do have faith in them for this outing though, and i cant wait for this record!

i respect the hell outta these band. good, young musician doing good for metal... aren't the heaviest, but still, pretty good... as the same for black tide, just a bunch of kids doing maiden type of s**t, but i think it's raw PLUS they're from florida, which NOTHING metal comes from here, 'cept for like a few good prog metal bands.
