If my info is correct, I believe the drummer for suffocation invented the blast beat? or at least helped put it into prominenece. Sort of like Van halen. He gets credited with inventing tap-picking, but He just made it popular.

I dont know if they still have that drummer htough, I have to look it up...

Other than that, The title track to this album raped baby-face live. i dont have time to listen to the album right now, but I already promised the guitarist I would buy the damn thing after chatting with him for a bit with my friends, so I can wait.

Easily my favorite Suffo album since Effigy.
Once again proving why they are one of the few tech death bands that actually matter.
Technical without showing off.
Brutal beyond belief.
What makes this better than past releases?
Yes even better than Pierced?
It's catchy and it's memorable.
The best batch of riffs they've come up with since Effigy.
Best songs...
Images of Purgatory
Cataclysmic Purification
Mental Hemorrhage
Provoking the Distrubed
Not one clunker to be found here.

headcheez - D.R.I. has been using the "blast beat" technique since the mid 80's. I personally think Pete Sandoval and Mick Harris perform the blast beat better than anyone else.
