MetalSucks Counting Down The Best 21 Albums Of The 21st Century
MetalSucks polled 57 musicians, managers, label reps, publicists, and writers from within the world of metal (including the staff of MetalSucks) for the 21 Best Albums of the 21st Century... So Far. Eligible albums were released between January 1, 2000 and April 1, 2009. Each panelist turned in a ballot, with their #1 album pick being awarded 21 points, their #2 album being awarded 20 points, their #3 album being awarded 19 points, and so on and so forth. Then, once all the ballots were in, we tallied 'em all up and compiled the final list based entirely on which albums had scored the most amount of points.
MetalSucks is now counting down the list one album a day, starting at #21 until they reach the #1 album in July. In addition to the MetalSucks staff, we've recruited some cool guest writers - including contributors to Decibel, Revolver, Metal Injection, NoiseCreep, and many others - to blog about each album.

M703 -- Don't know, they're both great albums. "Crack the Skye" is without a doubt the best thing they've ever put out though.
As for choosing my favorite, that's impossible. I've got so many CDs, and there are still so many more that I want to get / will get in the future, it's so hard to even choose what to listen to sometimes. I'm thinking about getting an mp3 player and just loading it all on there and hitting the "shuffle" button. lol.

TOG - Dude that is the only way to go.!!
The mp3 player and shuffle button are two of my favorite things..!
I have about 3500+ songs on my mp3 player... which equals roughly 230+ hours of uninterrupted music..!!
I have spent an entire week on the road and never heard the same song twice..!!
The ability to run it through the home stereo/car stereo or even my PA system makes it
one of the best pieces of electronics in my whole house..!

I have been coming to this site for years now, but have never signed on. I have to say, Slipknot is not my favorite band, but people DO have a point in naming Vol. 3 as one of the best albums. I have been a fan since Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat up until All Hope Is Gone...their last effort wasn't worth the Slipknot name. Thought it has brought people into metal more than any other band.
I have just recently seen Lamb of God and God Forbid live for the first time and thought their performance was flawless. I have never seen Mastodon though, so I cannot judge...

Can't argue with "Remission", or "War Within". I'd like to see "Blackwater Park" crack the top five as well as Emperor's "Promethius"...Any of Meshuggah's or Isis's records deserves a spot. I thought LOG's "Ashes of the Wake" is slightly more deserving than NAG but the placement at least was fair.
I'm trying to guess within the scope of quality, well known bands....so many bands with too low a profile that even hoping for them to rank is unrealistic.

April 1st? That means Mastodon's "Crack the Skye" isn't eligible. Or Heaven & Hell's CD.
