Bbristowe - I agree. Petrucci has been getting bigger. I was watching the "Rock Discipline" DVD the other day and he is much bigger now.
As far as the song goes, I'm on the fence. I wasn't overly impressed with Systematic Chaos. I'll wait to hear the album from start to finish to make a decision but I doubt they will ever come out with another Train of Thought or Six Degrees.

yeah so systematic chaos eh i wasnt all that pleased with but this?.. this is way different its more mainstream metal imo but to me it seems like MP is toning it down a bit and sticking with more heavy beats instead of complex rythms and fills ..which i dont like cuz im a drummer but good god the solo JP does at the end is amazing one of his best id say and yeah to all of you who think JP is getting bigger hes been getting bigger for years now in fact as joke MP drew an evolution of JP on a napkin once its pretty funny i think i saw it on there myspace but i like this song its heavy and the chord progs are amazing as usual :)

Sorry I'm from México and my english is not very well. YAH this message is for you, Dream Theater is a quintet of superb & pathetic circus musicians, the style is everything the same, boaring, plane, nothing experimental, nothing new, obvious nothing Progressive. If you can hear a very Progressive Metal Bands, check Spastic Ink, PanzerBallet, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Mastodon, The Ocean, Gojira, FATES WARNING Men!!!!!!, Upsilos Acrux, Fredrik Thordental solo, Meshuggah, Watchtower....
Please, take your feets in the Earth with Dream Theater.

I have no idea if that is what Shearer meant to say but if so f*** YOU. even though you dislike dream theater's "style" in the REAL WORLD of musicians it is TALENT that really matters. So when it comes down to DT kicks Spastic Ink, PanzerBallet, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Mastodon, The Ocean, Gojira, FATES WARNING Men, Upsilos Acrux, Fredrik Thordental solo, Meshuggah, Watchtower.... ASSES.

Turn the key, walk through the gate? The chorus is so weak and p***y-like, reminiscent of their Systematic days. I like the mixolydian riff alot, actually P4 M3 Root m7 is one of my favorite things to play in a solo. But, i don't like the tritone at the first half of the phrase (the C F# C). It just doesn't sound good played slow like that. Like most of the last CD, the solos are the only thing that distinguishes this band from others that play this genre today. Honestly the song is a letdown. I miss the days when the solo was not the only part of the song i looked forward to. (6 Degrees, Scenes From a Memory, Awake, Falling into Infinity, and Images and Words)
