Venom To Re-Release "Black Metal"

Newcastle, England based Extreme Metal legends Venom has announced that they will once again be re-releasing their classic 1982 album, "Black Metal" later this year. The release will contain bonus tracks as well as an extra DVD which features the 1984 video release, "7th Date Of Hell" which documents the band's performance at the Hammersmith Odeon.

I've been looking for the 7th Date Of Hell on DVD for ages so this is cool, problem is, I, like every Venom fan, already own Black Metal. Then again I guess it's cool for people just getting into Venom and such.

I really hope it's not remastered. If so, it's going to be so compressed that it will sound like that new Metallica record.

^actaully, Venom sound nothing like Mayhem. They dance more around being a creepier Thrash metal band imo. Even then, that isnt really a good definition of Venom. But they are most certaintly not whatever your preconceived notions of "Black Metal" are. They just coined the term that's all.

Yeah I've always thought of Venom as a thrash metal band. As David Ellefeson once said about Venom, "More thrash than band probably!" but great band all the same. If you listen to Black Metal then listen to Kill 'em All, you can really see who influenced Metallica!
