"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Trickster G Interviewed at Metal Reference

Ulver's Trickster G. recently talked to the Metal Reference website and commented on a myriad of upcoming projects he's working on, including the follow-up to 2001's excellent Perdition City.

About the film Svidd Neger (Burnt Negro), controversial title and music that he's creating for it: “It's entitled that way to cause a stir, and they certainly succeeded in doing that. The producers have been reported to the human rights department at the UN. It´s going to be a backwards dogma-movie. It's a 1.5 million USD budgeter hitting the big screen spring 2003.” Svidd Neger is an "anti-dogma" film.

On a lighter note, Ulver's new album, Utopian Enterprises, is nearing completion: “It´s a return to the format composed of songs; our first 'real' album since Perdition City. It´s a collection of songs with texts, percussion, and instrumentation. There are contextual songs that allow us to promote the album on a bigger scale, and maybe shoot a video. The concept of the music and the basic tracks are written, but nothing is finished."

The always prolific Ulver have hired on collaborators to remix and reconfigure the group's material (from demo to current) on an as-yet-unnamed album. Expect to see Christian Fennesz, Jazzkammer, Kevin Drumm, Kid 606, Martin Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist), Merzbow, Neotropic, Pita, Bogdan Raczynski, Alexander Rishaug, Stars of the Lid, Third Eye Foundation, Upland, V/Vm, and others interpreting Ulver's music sometime this summer.

We'll have more news on Ulver and the many project their working as it becomes available.
