Metallica Discusses Hall Of Fame Induction Details

Metallica has issued the following update about their upcoming induction into the rock and roll hall of fame:
"The Hall of Fame induction is just a little over two weeks away and we thought that you just might be interested to know that our friend Flea from the Chili Peppers will be joining us doing the honors of inducting us to the Hall.
"As a refresher, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at Cleveland Public Hall on April 4, 2009, and will be televised live on Fuse and available on www.fuse.tv. The 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation . . . and believe it or not your first recording must be 25 years old or more (how can that be?!?!).
"Our fellow inductees and their presenters are listed below:
* Run-D.M.C. will be inducted by Eminem
* Jeff Beck will be inducted by Jimmy Page (The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin)
Bill Black will be inducted by Garry Tallent (Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band)
* DJ Fontana will be inducted by Max Weinberg
* Spooner Oldham will be inducted by Paul Shaffer
* Little Anthony will be inducted by Smokey Robinson
* Bobby Womack will be inducted by Ron Wood (Rolling Stones)
"See you from Cleveland next month!"

branded your a douche, why are you always bashing on them i mean come on 26 years over 100 million records sold! they deserve the rock and roll hall of fame, and yes as a metallisheep as you so call it, i will be watching them get inducted into the hall of fame, say something when your there, i say keep that opinion to yourself man.

Branded, you are a f***head. Its that simple. You exist only to shove your hate for metallica down others throats and its incredibly tiring. Do you have nothing better to do with your time? Do you stay up all night just waiting for the sign of a metallica thread so you can comfort your insecurity by acting touch on the net? Or are you that attention deprived you need to make comments that you know will spark responses? Sure if you don't like the band you can let people know, but if the only reason you have for your constant ragging on the band at every thread of theirs that exists is becuase they sold out then just get over it, cause' your not going to change it with your rantng and they are not exactly the first band to ever do it. Labeling fans "metalli-sheep" is pathetic. You have well informed everyone of your feelings towards the band. It does not change the fact that they produced some epic sh** back in their time, which is more than what you have to say.

Although I'm not overly excited about anything they've released since Justice (which was 21years ago, as a reminder...) they deserve to be inducted. Nearly 30years together and over 100million albums sold, plus they're still touring and playing OK-ish to good shows. Not bad, Not bad at all.
Besides they haven't released a totally crap album yet (ok, there's that St. Anger thing). Of course they've sold out, but since they're the biggest "metal" band ever, I bet it's been a bit difficult for them to decide where to draw the line simply as they're the 1st metal band there. They've simply taken what's been given to them, and pretty much all of it, which I'm not very happy about. But in any case, congrats Metallica!

I'm on Branded's side here. When even your own current fans acknowledge that you've sold out, exactly what award do you deserve? The only thing they deserve is to die on their bed of cash with the knowledge that they traded not only their own soul but also the hearts of all the fans that truly enjoyed their REAL calling.
The only thing calling for them now is their money manager telling them that they need to open yet another bank account at some other branch in order to ensure that every dollar they sold out for is backed by the FDIC's $250,000 limit. That and the dark cold grave of shame where teenage girls will come by and leave Barbi and Brittney dolls as tribute while crying, "WHYYYY, oh, WHYYYY did they need to die so empty and RIIIIIICH!"

Remember that time all the "haters" stepped right into it and proved my point? Yet we "sheep" are the douchebags? Pathetic.
Even though I know it won't do any good to say so, don't bother replying to this as I'm done. I've proved my point and moved on. Maybe the twelve year olds that are hung up on stuff that happened fifteen years ago should consider doing the same.

18. writes:
In as much as I spend more time than you in a vagina, yes, I am a douchebag.
Evidently you're illiterate as well because you totally missed my point about not replying and moving on, which I'm serious about this time. Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics...even though you may win, you're still retarded. Please post and prove me right again, it does my ego good.

Ur both douchebags. Get over it. :P
DotF: if we stopped worrying about Hitler because that happened over 50 years ago, would that make you happy too? how long ago an event or turning point occured is irrelevant. The band sold out, is continuing to do so, and former fans, such as branded, feel it is neccesary to constantly keep others on their guard against this band's two-faced intrusion into the genre they had once ruled with an iron fist.
I see branded's ranting and metalli-bashing as a public service. Anyone who wasnt aware, or has become lenient towards, metallica's current place in metal, gets a big whopping dose of it every time they read a post by branded, and at least in this thread, one of my posts too.
Please try and stop being so offended when someone criticizes metallica; the band has done more than enough to earn it, and then some.

Comparing Metallica with Hitler? Come on dude, seriously? Millions of innocent people murdered compared to a few thousand people with their little feelings hurt?
Anyone ever hear of reading comprehension? Where did I ever state that I was offended? I couldn't care less about the opinions of anyone on the internet. Please note my "Special Olympics" reference earlier (for which I apologize to anyone actually mentally handicapped).
I've been reading Blabbermouth and/or Metal Underground for years and this is the first topic I have ever posted to. You, Branded, etc are all more than entitled to your opinions. If you don't like Metallica, fine, so be it. But to continue harping on the same tired old points year after year gets very old, and makes you look like you just can't get past the little disappointments in life. No, I don't like the new material nearly as much as Master, Justice, etc, but what purpose does perpetually compalining about it serve? Nothing, absolutely nothing.
Metallica never, ever claimed they would do whatever the fans wanted, even though they go out of their way to make their real fans happy. From day one, all they have ever said is that they are gonna do what they want to do, no matter what anyone else thinks...and that is exactly what they have done.
FaN, barring the Hitler comparison, I at least give you props for typing out an intelligent response and not relying on, as I metioned in my first post, the old standby slams, ie gay, suck, sold out. If all the haters were so articulate, this discussion wouldn't be taking place.
I hope everyone, regardless of opinion, has a great night. I have beer to drink.
Peace, love, and chicken grease.

As long as Metallica news bites make their way to an otherwise true metal site instead of going straight for the Teen Beat sites, all true metal fans retain the right to crap on their threads. If you don't want crapped on by true metal fans, change your name to Poptallica and quit showing up on our metal site!

Truly, the worst and most creatively destructive thing that can happen to a band is to be surrounded by those who will not honestly criticize their art. A band needs to be told when they do badly. The works of the past cannot be excuse to f*** up in the present. For the love of metal itself, please, congratulate them when they do good, but please, PLEASE, bash them when they f*** up. I say this not only for Metallica, but for all creative processes in general.
This is how artists grow and evolve. Devotion inspires the art. Blind devotion destroys it. All criticism, good or bad, is a positive influence on the artist.
26. writes:
Pfft. The term "sold out" sold out years ago. Ultimately, every artist on this planet will appear "sold out" to someone somewhere.
Metallica, deserving or not, will be inducted into the RRHOF, and there ain't none of us here who can do anything about it. So will other bands that other people love and other people hate. And we still can't do anything about it.
34. writes:
I think we are all missing the fact that a rapper is going to be in the RRHOF. Wtf. Eminem is inducting Run-DMC, Rap is the worst style of music their is. There is no talent involved except the use of vocal cords and a creative lyricist. There are very few exceptions where the instruments are not controlled by computers and their are actual PEOPLE playing for the rapper. Like Hollywood Undead...
But seriously, Rap is Crap without the C

And let the Metallica bashing begin...
Any bets on what is said first? They're gay? They sold out? Or they just plain suck? Both the bashing and the unoriginality are inevitable.
