Fan Dies At Iowa Slipknot Concert

Slipknot's concert in their home state of Iowa on Sunday was marred by tragedy when a fan died after suffering a heart attack. Cory Nickels, 29, suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after alerting emergency service officials to the fact he was feeling unwell.
The fan was transported by ambulance to Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter. Autopsy results have yet to be released.

there are some lame pathetic people on here, someone has died at a gig and all ure doing is bagging the band they went to see. all you pathetic losers should find somethin better to do with your time than post rubbish like 'i hope every slipknot fan gets cancer and dies'. how low is that!? grow up and get a life

Villan: The idiots posting BS in this thread are not members (neither are you). Most of the non-members are lame and pathetic people. On this we can agree. As far a the late Mr. Nickels is concerned, i'm betting it was drug induced and as such is about as important to me as a suicide. It just so happens that he died at a Slipknot concert (which is why it made the news). Had it not been for that, nobody would know or even care about it besides his family and friends left behind. Unless you are a suicide grievance counselor, I seriously doubt you would give a crap either so get over yourself and move on with your life.

Metal and death go hand in hand. It was shocking to me, when someone died of heat exhaustion in my home town at a concert. Drugs could be a factor, but even young people are not immune to heart attacks, or strokes. I am 38 - and I am already on a blood pressure medicine, and a cholesterol lowering agent...sucks...I know. The good news is I bought an exercise bike, now I have to use it more.

Well, I have to disagree - as shocking as it may seem - young people can and do die from health problems, such as heart attacks.
Obesity is also a strong factor, as well as, being diabetic, etc. Granted the older the person is, the higher probability of having severe health problems, or dying early.
It is cool, that is just my opinion, but it is also based on reports I read. You are right, though, drugs such as cocaine or stimulants, can stop the heart. I had an energy drink once, and thought I was going to have a heart attack. Not cool, one bit.

^ever the semantic a$$hole DeathInEye arent ya? lol
I say we wait till the next article we may or may not get on the incident. i'm halfway certain some wingnut media case will hop on this and use this as some excuse to witchhunt metal, or at least slipknot, and then we'll be hearing no end to this. At the very least, we'll probably find out what the autopsy finds out soon enough. Until then, all this argument of drugs v. legitimate heart problems is just useless conjecture.
I personally think it was Obama's fault, for not setting up his new health care system fast enough. :)

This Is Terrible News!
IDK what the cause of his death was. Nor do I really care what it was.
What's important is that We Have Lost Another Maggot In This World! :'(
And Furthermore, Another Fellow Headbanger And MetalHead!
That it what is truly tragic. I feel bad for all of us MetalHeads, Headbangers, And Most Importantly.. Us Maggots.
I Also Feel Terrible For SLIPKNOT For Losing Another One Of Their Dedicated And Loyal Maggots.
They Don't Deserve It As Much As Cory Did.
I Have Shed My Tears For Him. And I Will Headbang And Mosh In His Memory.
My Sincere Condolences Go Out To Corey And His Family And Friends. Also to SLIPKNOT.
I'm Sorry For Your Tragic Loss.
R.I.P. Cory Nickels. "Stay (sic)!" I Thought We Said "We Won't Die"...

not much to really say...it sucks that he died. now the media will go on with how bad metal/slipknot is and what it does to people. B@stards.
I have yet to go to a metal show or any show in the matter. mostly due to the fact NO ONE IS COMING CLOSE ENOGH IN MICHIGAN. I hear all of this and it makes me wonder if i really want to go to a concert, but if i can i will be there it wont stop me, but the thought is still there to question if i ever really will go to one

Yes DeathInEye - it was a YJ Stinger..and that shxt is potent.. My friend drank something else-I think it was a MONSTER, and on top of that he had taken no doze. I thought I was going to have to rush him to the hospital...the way the drink adversely affected me, he would have been worse. I hate having heart palpitations. Yes - to the young Maggott(Cory) - God rest your soul...nice words from Timothy.

In response to Death_Angel, what the f*** are you talking about? Stop your b****ing already and go to a f***ing show. Bands play in Michigan all the time! Maybe if you lived in like Alaska or Maine but come on man.
Anyways, RIP to the kid who died. This isn't the place to be bashing Slipknot and their fans. Yeah I agree that their new stuff sucks but say they suck on some other post and not here.

To FAN, I can't help but think in semantics! It's an adverse affect of being an English major. Another is correcting everyday grammar in conversations with friends. I even paste most of my posts into Word so I can spell check them. =/
To Terminator, no, it's not a tangible thing, but therein you still referred to it as thing. And examples of too much moderation: Prohibition (though I don't drink), Censorship, and certain diets where limit your food intake to one or two types of foods (Atkins diet).

Before I crack a joke i want to say my thoughts go out to this fans family and friends, its hard to lose a love one in any situation. But because of the band i just cant hold it in...i would imagine its hard to think that he spent his last moments at a slipknot concert...that bothers me..alot.
32. writes:
i hate slipknot. but i will say that it sucks to have your last moments to be at a slipknot concert.
i wish people would stop connecting slipknot to metal all the bad sh** happens to them, they're the ones to blame for the bad raps metal gets because some kid in africa goes berserk and cuts somebodys head off wearing a slipknot mask.
sorry to the guy who probably got suffocated by his zipperpants or whatever.
