Black Dahlia Murder Guitarist John K Leaves The Band
Trevor Strnad, the vocalist of The Black Dahlia Murder has posted the following message online:

he was one of the 3 original members left in the band, and he was a very good player. i have heard that there are some egos in this band though. that sucks. to post #1. in my opinion these guys are one of the few bands to come out in the age of metalcore and not play watered down, breakdown layden garbage. yeah they are biting at the gates big time, but come on. there is no way you can label them death core.

f***ING NOOOOOOOOOOO
BDM are one of my favorite bands... like i listen to them EVERY DAY. f***ing sh**, John kicked so much a$$ in that band...
I hope John ends up in another band and makes it awesome... or he f***ing gets back into BDM where he belongs. dammit.

They WERE metalcore. I find it funny how many bands such as Black Dahlia Murder, Trivium, Job For A Cowboy etc. started out playing metalcore/deathcore and are now making a transition to the metal equivalent. I mean, bands change during their lifetime but I've never seen such a forced jumping-ship as this to cover up the past.

Yeah, the stuff I heard was definitely deathcore. Haven't heard them lately to say if they've gotten away from it though. There really has become a very fine line between metalcore/deathcore and mdm these days, since many metalcore bands started using mdm riffs and styles basically. Some bands skirt the line so closely it's hard to tell the difference.

My basic complaint is that they don't ever really use riffs that belong to metalcore or deathcore outside of their original EP and demo and yet still carry the stigma of being "core". The only usage of breakdowns are in intro's and they've since done away with those. They might be blatantly ripping off Dissection and ATG but it's preferable to actual metalcore.

Notice how poster guy #1 - makes an ignorant comment - leaves abruptly - and doesn't back up his claim that BDM is metalcore. Good job of weeding out this moron. Just another troll coming out to the light....lol. I don't see BDM as metalcore, but I am no expert on their style of playing. Sounds like melodic death to me.

Some bands don't mind the metalcore label, because they are actually a fusion of metal and hardcore punk. Himsa is like that, they f***ing rule but they're metalcore. You can actually hear the punk influences, especially in John Pettibone's vocals. Their last album was more MDM influenced but their early sh** was definitely punky.
BDM just doesnt sound very punk-influenced to me.

that is pretty gay. being in a band does raise a lot of tension. but i agree that they are just another band. they could be one of the top twenty of the genre they play (what ever the f*** you genre freaks want to put it in) but it is just another band that already reached its top and hit the bottom haha and yes i enjoyed the first comment haha
