Vintersong Focus on New Album

Sweden's Vintersorg, featuring members of Borknagar, Spiral Architect and Testament, have set the track listing for the follow-up to 2002's Visions From The Spiral Generator called The Focusing Blur.

"The next album is going to have the format of a concept/theme album, a story running through the albums entirety, and with a musical flow that includes small compositions between the 'real' songs," says mainman Vintersorg on the group's website. "The music takes off from Visions From The Spiral Generator and twists and turns through a vast genre spectra (as always with Vintersorg). From mellow prog to extreme metal, to ambient and folky vibes, spiced with a lot of effective contrasts, changing directories but united under a solid musical kingdom."

Referring to the title, Vintersorg explains: "It's set to The Focusing Blur and deals with man's hunger for science and faith... After understanding the most secretive processes, we always come to a new crossroad, with myriads of paths to follow, so our focus is more like a blur."

In similar news, Vintersorg's side-projects Havayoth (with members of Naglfar and Bewitched) and Ion (with members of Borknagar) are apparently moving forward as well. No real news from either camp about upcoming albums, but Havayoth are sorting out label issues while Vintersorg is working on ambient soundscapes and vocals for Ion. As for when these albums are slated to surface, all bets are on sometime in late 2003.

Vintersorg's The Focusing Blur's is tentatively due out sometime in early 2003 through longtime label Napalm Records.
