70000 Tons of Metal - The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise

Satellite Radio Rocks On

My recent bit about XM radio's metal program, Liquid Metal Radio prompted a response/reminder from Sirius about their heavy programming station, Hard Attack. They are also seeking metal bands for their radio shows and playlists. Sirius came to market a little later than XM, and without getting into the nitty-gritty is essentially comparable competition for XM radio in the satellite radio market. (although Sirius claims to be commercial-free) You can also listen to their programming for 20 minutes at a time online.

In any case, it seems as though both of these companies will be around for a couple more years, according to this article, which states that enough additional financing is secure or almost secured for both Sirius and XM to keep them going to 2004, at which point they hope to have a large enough subscriber base to turn a profit.
