Metallica's "Death Magnetic" A Lock To Top Billboard 200

Billboard.com reports: A title missing from last week's Nielsen SoundScan Building charts is destined to be the next No. 1 on The Billboard 200, as Metallica's new "Death Magnetic" has a shot at a half-million copy opener.
The band's first album through Warner Bros. was absent from SoundScan's interim charts because of its off-cycle Friday street date of September 12, which was chosen in order to accommodate a global release date. SoundScan's Friday Building chart reflects sales from nine leading accounts through close of business on Thursday.
Informed sources estimate "Death Magnetic" will start in the neighborhood of 450,000-500,000 copies, with one unpredictable variable being a ticket/album bundle offered by Ticketmaster. The album was also packaged with "Guitar Hero" at Best Buy, sold through "Guitar Hero" platforms Xbox and Playstation and packaged with a Metallica-branded set of headphones by Skull Candy.

Anyone see the last two Metallica setlists?!?! THE SH*TIEST things Ive ever seen! I mean I like DM and all, but to have 5 or 6 songs off of it in a set? Not cool Metallica, not cool. And no Enter Sandman? Not that I care to hear it, but come on, it's the song that got you HUGE. And no Creeping Death, Nothing Else Matters, Metal Militia, No Remorse, Unforgiven, or for that matter, barely anything before the black album?!?!? WTF!! I seen Frantic, I mean come on, why on earth would you guys play ANYTHING off St Anger?!? And Until It Sleeps, good song but come on guys, I dont wanna hear that sh*t live. See for yourselves:
01. That Was Just Your Life
02. End Of The Line
03. The Thing That Should Not Be
04. Of Wolf Of Man
05. One
06. Broken, Beat, and Scarred
07. Cyanide
08. Frantic
09. Until It Sleeps
10. Wherever I May Roam
11. For Whom The Bells Tolls
12. The Day That Never Comes
13. Master Of Puppets
14. Blackened

15. Blitzkrieg
16. Jump In The Fire
17. Seek and Destroy
the only difference with the other one I seen was no Blitzkrieg, it was Stone Cold Crazy instead

v, to quote hetfield himself at the london 02, say what you will, but frantic kicks ass
and wow, blackened live makes up for anything you might have a problem with
and barely anything before black album? hmm, let's see, 2 from kill em all, 1 from ride, 2 from puppetz, 2 from justice, um that's 7 songs out of 17 from 4 out of 9 albums. you do the math.
and yes, they played a lot of death magnetic songs. i wonder why? hmm, maybe it's because ITS THE DEATH MAGNETIC RELEASE PARTY - the name kinda gives it away

Not really a bad setlist, though I wouldn't mind Frantic and Until it Sleeps being replaced by Creeping Death and Fade to Black... but really to totally satisfy me they would have to start at eight in the morning and play till after midnight.. or their fingers fell off.. whatever comes first.

say what you will, but that is not a setlist a true metallica fan would want to see. no wonder everyone bad talks them now. i applaud the new album and their turn around from st. anger, but i dont know...yea there was 7 songs pre-black, but only 4-5 songs on the set are memorable ones. this is an ok setlist for a cd release party, but if this is a tour set list, big frown

Err, it makes sense to have a lots of DM songs, since it just got released...
But yeah, this album certainly doesn't deserve it's first position for sure... They could've put out another St.Anger and it would still be first just because it was made by Metallica.

Last week Young Cheezy was number 1 and the New Kids on the Block was number 2. Did you go looking for forums so that you could talk about how those underwhelming non musicians didn't "deserve" their positions? No of course youd didn't... and even though New Kids and Cheezy suck balls... they still sold the albums and got the position. Now here we have an actual damn good album and it is on top of the charts... and you wen't looking for a forum to b**** about it.
Wow.

not picking on any of you by any means... but have any of you had a chance to be backstage at a Metallica show. Or are any of you fan club members... the reason i ask is the scorn of all metal fans "Lars" is well known for being the one to sit with james and agree on the set list, then he goes out in the hallway, meets with the fan club members that got meet and greet passes and asks them what they want to hear. From there he goes back to James and they spend the next 20 minutes relearning to play songs that they haven't played in a while. They may be rich and some say sell outs but they actually do care about the show you see.

"They may be rich and some say sell outs but they actually do care about the show you see." they never sold out...they just made different music because they didn't want to be the same sounding band forever. Im glad they went that way because now i appreciate their old sound more than ever. Death magnetic is amazing...Specially that was just your life. and yes metallica does ask what the fans want to hear most of the time, so they do care.

Yeah, I figured it'd be pretty obvious that "Death Magnetic" would grab the #1 spot.
