Slipknot's Corey Taylor Weighs In On Illegal Downloading

Kerrang reports: Following the arrest of Kevin Cogill - the man accused of leaking Guns N' Roses' Chinese democracy album online - earlier this week, illegal downloading is once again in the spotlight.
Not that he's one to rant about anything under the sun you understand, but Corey Taylor isn't called The Great Big Mouth for nothing. And, according to the Slipknot frontman, record companies only have themselves to blame for the rise in illegal downloading because "most of the bands they sign are shit."
"Why would you blame [people who download music]?," Taylor said to Kerrang! "Half the fucking albums that are out there are shit. I don't download, but at the same time, I don't buy new music 'cause it all sucks. Okay, there's a handful of bands that I buy, but other than that, I just buy old shit because old shit is good. Sorry!
"People wanna blame the decline of album sales on downloading, I think it's actually the record companies' fault," he added. "I think it's the quality of the product. If record companies would stop giving any fucking mook on the street with a fringe a record deal or their own record label, maybe you would sell more fucking albums, dipshits."

I actually liked the new slipknot because it is a new metal album. Yes, Corey is an a$$ in real life, but, he usually says pretty intelligent things. He just has an ego the size of Texas. Also - Jim Root is a good guy, too, and one of the hardest working members of slipknot. He is the reason why Stone Sour's first album sounded so good. Corey can sing, but he is nowhere as talented as JR.

You don't tend to hear much music from Displeased, Nuclear Blast or Relapse on the radio. Fans of these bands also tend to have a more genuine attachment to and respect for these bands for many reasons, not the least being that they had to dig a find a diamond amongst the sh**.
The majors are going to have to change their century-old marketing model in order to survive. The internet and illegal downloading aren't going anywhere.

Haha! You got me there. But i'm aggravated for a different reason. Sorry about the childish comments. I just like to push the buttons of some of the dummies on these things. Guess I picked the wrong person. I'm weird obviously. I was waiting for Maggot for life to come to my house and slit my throat. I just think it's strange that people obsess over certain bands. In Jr. High some kid started a fight with me because I said Slipknot sounds like a bunch of noise. Generally speaking, these people are just so ignorant. I mean, come on. Read posts 12, 13, and 27.........cmon. These people don't know sh**e about music. Slipknot is their religion and Corey taylor's lyrics have become their bible. Human behavior is fascinating to me. You can't say that doesn't perplex you a little bit.
