Slayer's Decree: God Hates Us All
Thrash/punk/metal kings SLAYER are set to unleash their eighth studio album Tuesday, September 11 on American Recordings. Entitled God Hates Us All, the album was recorded last winter at The Warehouse Studios in Vancouver, and was produced by Matt Hyde, who also produced the SLAYER track "Bloodline" for the Dracula 2000 soundtrack.
The rest of the story is as follows:
Originally set for a July release, American Recordings owner and producer Rick Rubin took two of the tracks into the studio and remixed them. The band was so happy with the results, it was decided that Rubin would remix most of the remaining tracks, hence the later release date.
"They sound amazing," said SLAYER's Jeff Hanneman of the tracks. "Rick gets this great bass drum sound that only he can get. This album has the sound of Reign in Blood, and South of Heaven, the clarity of Seasons in the Abyss, and is as intense as any SLAYER album."
God Hates Us All is already getting rave reviews — the UK's Kerrang! called it "...the ugliest, most visceral and consistently grim SLAYER album in many years. And as any true SLAYER fan will know, this is a supreme compliment." Writer Steffan Chirazi continued that you "instantly feel that legendary SLAYER G-force; crushing mid-paced riffs, hernia-inducing drums, and a vocal that's part hell and part desperation, all captured in the sort of sound that's so sharp and stark you could use it to slice through concrete." Spin’s reviewer Ian Christie wrote, "within these simpler songs are nerve-twitching variations and muscular micro-pauses that dance with predatory grace. The only dark lords [SLAYER] worship are themselves."
Over the past year, SLAYER has been busy contributing tracks to outside projects, including "Bloodline" for the Dracula 2000 soundtrack, "Here Comes the Pain" and "Hand of Doom" for the BLACK SABBATH tribute album, and for Test, the World Wrestling Federation compilation, the song "War Zone".
SLAYER will tour the world extensively in support of God Hates Us All.
